I went and took some measurements for placing my batteries inside the cab of the K5 and I noticed that my floor does not look like Rene's cab floor. This made me change my plans.
Rather than place a battery in each corner of the foot well of the rear seat I am going to place them centerline of the rear seat much like a center console for the rear seat passengers. I hate to say it but my wife gave me the idea
. I took some measurements and realized there was not enough room with my Tuffy box where it was so I had to move it forward. Well that led to me completely gutting the front floor
.
I discovered during all of this I am getting water inside the truck from somewhere as the carpet on the passenger side was soaked from the rain we have been having. Once I unbolted everything I ended up removing all of the carpet and pad. I noticed the floorboards have a tar/plastic membrane over them. Is this normal? I have never seen it before.
Well with the center box moved as far forward as it will go (i.e. touching the factory 208 shifter housing) I now have a 19.5" X12" foot print to place a battery box for both batteries, my marine switch and an acr all with a lid and cup holders for the rear passengers
.
No pics as it was dark when the daughter and I were done but we have the rear carpet to remove next then it will be all metal. I was happy to see that I did not have any rusted areas so the leak must be fairly recent.
Kinda long and rambling but it has been awhile since I have done anything with my truck.
One final thing. There are several wires running along the drivers side floor. One is for the seat belt. One set is orange and white and the other set is brown and yellow. Does anyone know what they are for? There is also a gray and blue set that run down passenger side.
I think the yellow, brown, grey and blue are speaker wires for the rear speakers and the orange and white is for the dome lights but I am not sure as I am lazy and have not looked at my wiring diagrams
I have rambled enough

. She is suspended for 1 day (unofficially just to hit it home, i.e. the prinicpal is not going to put it in her student record) and she has to do chores to pay off her portion of the supplies that she used and for the cost of the repaint of the walls. The wife and I still need to discuss the overall punishment.
