Well, it's not as nice as a BlazenOffroad bumper, but...

I think it will get the job done. Still have a few more things to add to it, finish welding, etc.

Still need to:

  1. install tire carrier plate
  2. receiver tube
  3. run a tube through some bolt-on flanges to the cage-to-frame mounts
  4. rear-quarter armor/carrier mount stabilizer bar.
  5. weld some some of those sick looking web gussets. :)
  6. cut off the excess that's next to the tail lights.
I think it looks mighty fine, for a fabrication newbie. :) The picture straight on from the back looks awkward due to the camera angle, so the profile pics are included to show that it is proportional to the rest of the truck. :)

thats freakin sweet, how much did materials cost you??
Thanks for the compliments, everyone. :)

I bought all this stuff over the course of a year, as I'm sort of a low-budget builder... so I can't remember exactly.

2 sticks 20' 1/8" wall HREW = about $45 or so.
3/8" plate frame attachments + 3/8" plate laminated to build tow points at $0.60/lb... = $12ish?
wheel mounting plate - $10
6 fabricator's sets bushings from DIY4x - $14ish each.
A few bucks on DIY4x web gussets, and cage flanges for bolt-on-mounting to my cage-to-frame tubes. Still need to buy receiver tube.
probably some other stuff too.
hardware.

All said and done, I'd suppose I've got less than $200 into it.

this is like inspiration for me to get a bender, I've got a sick miller welder. Not the greatest at welding, but everything is a process.

iwaxmyjimmy -

building bumpers would be a great way to get into figuring out how to use your bender. I jumped right in and built my roll cage - that was a pretty tough way to start off! :) What Miller do you have? I have the Millermatic 212. It does a damn fine job, if I do say so myself.

Looks like you did a great job Colby!!
