Blazer Bash trip...epic fail. I'm so pissed off I can't believe it.
The plans for this trip began a year ago over a bottle of Sambuca at my buddies house in BC. We both vowed we'd make BB15 no matter what.
So, I started working on the Blazer again as soon as we got home and made some good progress. As the weather got colder I lost power to the garage. I had no idea what was going on, and called a few electricians. Nobody wanted such a piddly little job and 3 months went by. We got a warm spell and I decided to try and chase down the problem...finally finding a loose breaker in the box of all things. I'm thinking I'm back on track.
Around this time I meet Bix here (Nick) and now we're up to three of us going the BB15 and I'm stoked!
Fast forward to May, the Blazer is looking on track, morale is high. I get a text from my buddy...he fell while working on his house and ripped his heel wide open. About an inch or more deep and 6 or 7 inches long. He won't be able to work til the fall at the earliest and is out. Damn.
A month later Nick pulls the pin on his job and gets a job where he gets to have a life. That is great, but now he has no vacation time and is also out for BB15.
OK, I'm still in...it'll be my wife, my youngest daughter and myself.
Russel has been kind enough to take on all the wiring on my Blazer...but being 4 hours away it's hard for him to get here and make any significant progress. I'm getting nervous, and a week or two ago I decide for my own sanity to leave the Blazer at home, and wheel the new pick-up on some easy stuff in Moab instead.
So, one huge oversight later I remember we still need passports. I'm not horribly worried as you can pay extra and have them expedited. So, being an immigrant I start looking around for all my citizenship stuff. I get excited when I find a ton of papers, then realize they're all photocopies. i need all the originals of course. We tear the entire house apart...my papers are MIA. So, we make a few calls today, getting replacements isn't a big deal. Just 6-8 months before it happens.
Something or somebody does not want us in Moab this year...
Have fun everyone. I'll see y'all next year, with the Blazer FFS!!
