Blazer Bash trip...epic fail. I'm so pissed off I can't believe it.

The plans for this trip began a year ago over a bottle of Sambuca at my buddies house in BC. We both vowed we'd make BB15 no matter what.

So, I started working on the Blazer again as soon as we got home and made some good progress. As the weather got colder I lost power to the garage. I had no idea what was going on, and called a few electricians. Nobody wanted such a piddly little job and 3 months went by. We got a warm spell and I decided to try and chase down the problem...finally finding a loose breaker in the box of all things. I'm thinking I'm back on track.

Around this time I meet Bix here (Nick) and now we're up to three of us going the BB15 and I'm stoked!

Fast forward to May, the Blazer is looking on track, morale is high. I get a text from my buddy...he fell while working on his house and ripped his heel wide open. About an inch or more deep and 6 or 7 inches long. He won't be able to work til the fall at the earliest and is out. Damn.

A month later Nick pulls the pin on his job and gets a job where he gets to have a life. That is great, but now he has no vacation time and is also out for BB15.

OK, I'm still in...it'll be my wife, my youngest daughter and myself. :waytogo:

Russel has been kind enough to take on all the wiring on my Blazer...but being 4 hours away it's hard for him to get here and make any significant progress. I'm getting nervous, and a week or two ago I decide for my own sanity to leave the Blazer at home, and wheel the new pick-up on some easy stuff in Moab instead.

So, one huge oversight later I remember we still need passports. I'm not horribly worried as you can pay extra and have them expedited. So, being an immigrant I start looking around for all my citizenship stuff. I get excited when I find a ton of papers, then realize they're all photocopies. i need all the originals of course. We tear the entire house apart...my papers are MIA. So, we make a few calls today, getting replacements isn't a big deal. Just 6-8 months before it happens. :doah:

Something or somebody does not want us in Moab this year...

Have fun everyone. I'll see y'all next year, with the Blazer FFS!! :waytogo:

I don't know what the Canadian equivalent is. But when I came I didn't have my passport. Orginal birth certificate. Social Security card and my valid drivers license.

I don't know if that's what gonna take 6 months to get.

What a huge bummer Rene. Canada and the USA ( as I understand it's mostly the USA ) need to go back to driver licenses

sorry to hear plans break Rene'...I know its been a while since you've been and making another trip is exciting...hope to see you there next year!

The problem is I was born in Amsterdam, so a birth certificate (which I do have) doesn't help. I liked when an enhanced DL was enough, but our Alberta licenses aren't 'enhanced'. I need to get a replacement of my citizenship stuff...not really hard, just time consuming.

Next year for sure. :waytogo:

Seeing as I have time booked off and can't do Blazer Bash we're trying to plan something. Currently thinking southern Ontario.

Well take some time and chill man. I'm not making it this year either.

Bummed though was looking forward to having you at our place for a couple days

That's too bad Buddy. :(

Come out to dune trip 2016 or 2017 when Nate and I head out to Cali for a weekend

Just the way it goes. I had to work a half day today, and I usually take my wife with me when I do. We spent the morning talking about the whole thing. We decided to just stay home, and I'm gonna demolish our old sundeck and I'm gonna build a new one. We toyed with possibly driving to Niagra falls, but neither of us were really excited about it. Might as well pour the vacation money into the house...

A lot can happen in a year...but what I can say for sure is my Blazer won't be well set up for dunes.

Man, sorry to hear that all the plans fell through on the big trip. I know that you were really pushing hard for that. At least it got you out in the garage with the end result being a running rig again tho. :pimp:

Just make a nice date night and take the blazer instead of the new ride. :dunno:

You know as well as I do, the only reason he let you across the border is because I'm one smooth talking SOB. :D

Sorry the plans fell through, but yep take some well deserved time off with the fam and have plenty of time to get everything in order for the next one and maybe the group will all be able to make it next time.

Sorry your vacation plans didn't come to fruition Rene..

A "stay-cation" is not much fun ,but I suppose it is a good time to spend with your loved ones too..

I've wanted to get to northern MO since 2005 to go to the week long party Rhonda Vincent holds for her fans at her campground --first year she started having her own version of the Sally Mountain Festival was 2005,when I got that car from her,and I wouldn't blame her if she felt bad because I haven't gone even once, but she does know what I was up against the past 10 years too..now I'm getting to the point I doubt I'd be able to travel that far and enjoy any of it...

I'm OK with the "stay-cation". It'll be nice to just not be at work for 17 days...and it'll be doubly nice to tear down and rebuild the sundeck. It's an embarrassment when people come over.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck. I hope you can make it next year.

Looks hellagood on a shirt though

NOT gonna argue! :pimp:

hardly, sometimes we can be our own worst critic though!

Cause he was scared what shenanigans would have happened if they let us in a building :eek1:

That guy was get these guys as far north as soon as possible lol

That's a huge bummer, I've been training my liver to see if I could drink as much as a Canukistanian. Last time I tried I failed, probably would have again.

This just means I get another year of training.
