I got my drivers side door tagged by another vehicle while I was in walmart, door wont open, window shattered.

and now..........I have a serious problem, I was going through a drive thru last night, and shut my truck off so I could hear the guy and when I was all done, and went to start my truck again, NOTHING, no clicks, no buzzing, just the "Brake" light whenever I turned the key, I pushed it out of the drive thru (with the help of a good Samaritan/hungry gent who didn't want to wait for me to do it myself) onto the side of the road, tried and tried, and nothing different from a lit "Brake" light.

I decided to abandon the efforts and go home, but not without pushing her into the parking lot, before I left, out of curiosity I turned the key, and she started up, after making everyone in the area believe I was mewntally INSANE with my shouts and screams of confusion, I left and went right home, this morning, I left for errands, and she did fine all day, until I went to go home, same deal (at least she was already parked this time) so she sirs, away from home, with a confused owner who wants his baby running again.

I know it's something simply stupid, but I've never had this problem on a GM, and this is my first ownership to one of this generation, one guy offered to take it off my hands for $300 since I was having problems, so I know it's GOT to be something easy, and for the record I told him NO.

Does the engine crank over but just doesn't start or does it not even turn over? If it doesn't turn over i would wiggle the shifter and see if that works and if it does then it's time to adjust or replace the neutral safety switch. If that doesn't make a difference then it might be time to replace the ignition switch. If the engine does crank but doesn't start then it's time for a new ignition module and possibly a pick-up coil.

Actually it was a faulty voltage regulator and a failing/dying alternator, the VR pigtail was so crapped up I had to cut it off and crimp a new pig tail onto it, the motor is VERY clean, I'm not sure how all that crap got into the VR clip, but I installed a new alternator and drove her all day, not a bad deal considering I was expectant of a nasty wire chasing ordeal to become of this.
