The rig's loaded, Lappy (98 XJ) meets at my place, we planned on convoying, but I needed some Ultra (petrol) so I had to drive thru Malvern, he hates driving thru that town, so we split up, each taking a different route. I'm rolling down #21 s to #30 e.

9:30 AM

Arrive in Malvern, the attendent at the Sunoco yells at me for putting gas into a yellow diesel container, all was good...3.09 a gal...eek! 25 gallons later, I'm back on #30.

10:30 AM

Arrive at Oaktree, Wellsville Oh., then called Lappy to see where he was?Since Oaktree is being purchased by a private investor, for coal processing, I just sat back, relaxed and thought of all the good times I've had here. Without shedding a tear, I unloaded the rig...

10:45

Lappy pulls up. I told him, I'm in a very mellow mood, I need some motivation. He kicked me in the ass, then we hit the trail, time to meet up with Hicks (92'YJ), Rorry (98' XJ).

11:15

Pulled into camp crispie! Someone burned many campers in the Forbidden Zone. Both Hicks and Rorry lost there campers. They were camping at anouther site, in good spirits...ready to rock and roll.

11:45

After bsing for a few, we hit the trail...I talked the guys into hitting the trail above the "Rock Garden"...."Terminator"! I was exited, it's one of the toughest trails in Wellsville.

12:05

Hicks stops in front of Terminator..he wanted to check it out on foot first. The whole gang checks out the trail, Rorry's worried that 38"s won't be big enough..the rocks are huge!

We discussed the lines we were taking.. Hicks went first. Hick's YJ is an impressive rig,4linked rear, 3 link front, 60's...on 40's. The trail's about a 1/4 mile, and extremely rough, so we went 50 yards or so, got out and helped spot the rig behind. Now Hicks did the spotting for me..but I new the lines...

Rorry's now next, he trashed his way thru, taking down a tree, I think the turbo opened up..he a tough guy to spot.

Now, downhill, to the big rocks...well...I've rabbled on...here's some pics.

Does that guy actually use his diff cover as a recovery point? :dunno:

lol...NO! :D

He hooks his winch onto the axle to pull the front end down during hill climbing..air shocks do unload causing the rig to pull a wheelie..

I think he's talking about the rear diff cover with the big D ring on it...

I would assume it's for tying down on a trailer.

Oh...on the cheroke...
yes...it's common to weld d-rings on the rear for easy ty down.

Looks like fun. I haven't been to Wellsville for awhile now, and based on what I'm hearing there may not be a next time. Our club is planning on heading up there next month if it's still open, but don't know if I will be able to make it or not. We are heading to Kentucky this weekend for a long trip.

Nobody has a clue what's going to happen to wellsville. Dave hasn't seen the money for oaktree, Warren lost Forbidden Zone (he aquired the land by some shadey deal), the amish owner's not sure what he's going to do with the land. So...get out ASAP.
