1/2 ton status
went back to the junkyard, have some more ?\'s
I went back to the junkyard on Friday to find a matching 14 bolt FF and a 8 lug front to replace my junk axles. I pulled the cover off one of the two FF's in the yard and found a detroit locker. That's the good part, the bad is it has 3:73's. The only 8 lug front has 4:10's. I have a 3:73 geared front on a 1/2 ton '79 burby (six lugs) that I was thinking of parting out. Here are the questions:
1:What do I need to pull off of the 3/4 ton front to make my half ton front an 8 lug? The 3/4 ton front is in an early 80's truck so it is a 10 bolt.
2:What is the carrier brake on a 14 bolt? (If I ever get a dana 60 front I will need lower gears to go with the huge tires that naturally come along with it)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
