am looking to purchase a Chevy Dana 60 front axle, no Dodge stuff please, not Ford stuff please. I would like to see it with at least 4:10 gears in it. I would like it to be a SRW axle but the right price on a DRW axle also works. Locker would be nice but not necessary. I need this for my crawler project.

I am also looking for a matching rear end in Dana 60. Please no GM 14 bolt rear ends.

I can arrange pickup in most of the states in the west, AZ, CA, UT, NV, NM.

Post up if you have something. I will post up my response.

Thanks,
Rob

Chevy Dana 60. Dually. Have an extra set of hubs that I was going to turn down to SRW. Auto hubs. Complete. Supposed to have 4.56 gears but I have not confirmed this, but can.

$1000 obo

Located in Morgan Hill, CA

If your bolting it up to a GM frame the 1963-72 GMC 3/4 ton 2wd's used a leaf spring D60 rear with 31 spline axle shafts and 42.5" spring pad spacing. They are most commonly found with 4.10 gears from 63-66 but 4.56 is found in a lot of the 67-72 trucks.

I have a 4.10 Detroit rear 60. One broken shaft. Has small shafts, needs upgraded to 70 shafts. I wouldn't use a 60 rear...miniwally kept tearing them up.

I also know a guy with some trucks with 60s he wants to be rid of.

Not me tearing them up. Jed that works for ORD went through 60 shafts like they were playdough.

I gots me a 14booooollllllllltttt. It may be heavy but it's strong.

Coulda sworn Andy said you...oh well. The point is, they small. I broke one in my K5 with 38" tires in poofy dirt. 2wd pinned uphill...:D

Rob cut his teeth wheeling 1/2 tons in a fullsize , a Sixty would live a very looooooong with Rob in a lighter weight buggy :waytogo:

Sorry guys,

I'm close to the buggy build, and have been working toward the axles on the buggy.

I have a hard time with the 14 bolt, it's just an anchor in the rocks. I am really leaning toward a 60 in the rear, and obviously a 60 in the front. I'm going 4:56 min.

The other option is the 14 bolt with the pirate shave, which includes a ring gear milling. I just have been in the AZ rock-gardens enough to know what happens w/ 14 bolts and not so huge tires.

I think I have scored an axle set, but the are 4:10's. I'm will be going doubler lomax, spool in rear, and detroit in front w/ cromo shafts in front 35 spline and CTM, or Longfield shaft in the front. I'm not planing on changing shaft in the front for a very long time.

Nothing wrong with a D60 rear axle... just plan on disc brakes when it comes time to service the rear brakes. The drums for my D60 are $150 ea if you have to replace them. It was going to be cheaper to do the disc brake conversion until I scored brand new brake parts at pull-a-part for cheap.
