Well about 45 minutes ago I just nailed a small doe with my '77 K20 at about 35 mph.:eek1: Swerved into the other lane to avoid it, but it turned the other way and ran right in front of me. Felt the whack in the front then felt the rear tires bounce up over it. She spun around in the road for a few minutes then just laid there for 10 or 15 minutes while I called the cops to plugged her in the head. Just before the cops arrived a car came by and I saw her laying there with her head up and ears perked up....car swerved to miss her and almost skidded off road. When the lights from the cops arrived on scene I saw she was gone!!!!:doah: It was in a residential area we looked in all the yards around the area and couldn't find her.....no blood trail or nothing!

Damn thing flattened by a 6000 lb truck and walks off. I was really looking forward to some backstraps for dinner tomorrow night!!

this past weekend I was riding home from a party (yes he was completely sober) in his 04 silverado running about 70-75 when a deer jumped out of the bushes and we nailed it. she just bounced off and kept running. shatterd all the lights on the driver side, crinkled the fender, hood and grill and mashed the bumper into the tire. he got out and laughed and pulled the bumper away from tire.

Im used to not having full coverage insurance so I was more freaked out then him. luckily he does have insurance that is going to cover the repair costs, and nobody got hurt.

I few years back when I was driving down the dirt road to my house a deer jumped out and nailed my truck right in the door. I got out and searched but never found her. what is strange about this one was my door was already crushed from various off road outages and the deer actually popped the door back out.:D

was there any damage to the truck. I am just trying to get an idea how well these older chevy's hold up to deer. I live in the middle of deer country so ya

my dad smacked one in his 74 gmc running about 60 mph and the only thing we found was some hair on the bumper. If you hit them right they will bend just like any other truck but in my opinion they will take a lot more of a beating then newer model trucks.

If hit head on, you may be fine. I nailed one with the Cherokee in the picture a couple years ago at 60 and the push bar took the brunt of the hit. Bent the passenger side of the bumper a little but that was all. Pretty much same style as you got.

I thought it was funny hunting up in Northern WI (Park Falls area) and seeing all the squads with big deer catchers on the front. Guess they see a benefit in them.

By the way, please don't flame me for the picture.....It's a Heep thing....and I still don't understand!

I've hit several deer with various vehicles. The worst damage I suffered with the full size Chevy's was a broken plastic grill and lots of hair on the headlights:) This truck also had no lift and stock bumper.

I hit one last fall going 45 in a Dodge caravan and destroyed the front right fender, headlight assembly, and dented the hood. The van wasn't inspected though, so I didn't wait around for the cops.

True, my bro-in-law got hit, yes got hit, by a deer thrown into the air by an oncoming ranger. It went through the windsheild and he walked away with just some scratches and a stinky totalled car. I attached the nicest picture of the bunch. If I attached the picts of the back seat, some of you might hurl!

That sucks.

You put all of that effort into tenderizing your dinner and it gets up and runs away. Try 40mph next time.:wink1:

No, the truck is lifted 4".....little bugger was so small it didn't even touch the bumper, went right under. There was some hair on the driver's side tie rod, that's it.....then one of the back tires rolled up over her.

Must say when I saw it in the road with its head lifted up the only thing I could think of was the scene in Tommy Boy when the deer they hit got up in the back seat of the car.

I'll be more prepared next time....probably aim for it and nail the throttle!:D Plus it would be nice if I had at least a knife int he truck....coulda slight her throat and let her bleed out in the road.

never hit one myself, but one trashed my cousin's ford escort. my dad nailed a few with his old impala (the car, not an acual impala. :wink1:). a friend nailed a buck at 130mph (yes, he's insane) in his 96 c1500. $7000 in damage. hood, fenders, all lights, grill, windshield, bumper, one control arm, and radiator. he said the deer just sort of disintegrated. nasty, but not shocking, at that speed. now, i have an idea of how my 94 would take it...but i don't drive it nearly that fast. his engine was far from stock.

sort of. he used it as an excuse to buy fiberglass fenders and ramair hood (to replace his old cowl induciton setup). maybe he was dealing drugs, because i don't see how made enough money for all his constant modding as a jiffy-lube guy. he grenades a ring gear about once a year, too.

A deer hit me 2 years ago. I was driving home from night school and I hear this loud noise and look to my left, the mirror was bent in and the mirror glass was gone. I had no idea what had happened. I pulled over, got out and saw the entire drivers side of the truck was covered in dents, still didnt know what happened, I was getting worried that i hit a pedestrian.

Then I got to get back in the truck and see a clump of fur stuck in the door handle. I went back down the road and the deer was gone.

Somewhere there is a bush with about 18 dead deer under it.

Many moons ago my step brother's mom took a seagull in the shoulder on a motorcycle at highway speed. I think the shoulder still gives her problems, but she did better than the seagull.

i can never see a deer whenever i am driving my trucks. it's always when i'mn some flimsy new car and just know it'll disintegrate it. i've actually road hunted looking for deer just to get the meat from them. never works for me
