My 91 V2500 has the roof console, and its absolutely useless. Other than holding 2 pairs of glasses, which takes two hands to secure, what do you all use them for?

I shortened one and put it in my K5 many years ago (this required a custom headliner to make it work). It's mostly for hitting your head on climbing into the back. The 4 map lights are nice because they only shine in a small spot. I put LEDs in them aimed out the lens and also put LED panels in for the dome lights. IIRC I cut out the dated slot-type thing and replaced with clear diamond plastic like from out of a drop ceiling florescent light. Overall, I considered this a lot better than the stock single dome light. The front compartment I modified to hold a CB radio.

Yea its a poor design for 2023 but probably made sense in the 80’s. I’m going to swap the bulbs and see if I can mod it to hold a Sub2000 or other gun.
The only useful part of roof consoles is the garage door opener buttons.
