that the changes to such a great forum have precluded the participation of longtime users. (Unless they're willing to pay for the privilege, of course.)

Bound to lose a lot of users and a lot of potential content that way.

Really, I'm awfully sad to see it. Sure hope that the results of the changes are worth the price paid in reduced participation.

Here's to a great bunch of people, and a killer archive!

THATS how to introduce yourself in your first post! What the hell are you talking about?? This sure as hell ain't garage related jiberish. WTF dood? If you have been lurking for this long and still don't realize how awesome this site is, it's your loss. If your bitchen about paying for a membership, don't, just go away.

X2

It's been paid membership for all access as long as I've been here. It's well worth it in my opinion. I don't think I've EVER heard anyone complain about wanting their money back after they payed for their membership, not once. Has anyone else?

Yep, the information I have recieved from this site, and the people on it, have saved me 100 fold what the subscription costs. It's really a no brainer if you are involved with a C/K5...............

this place is the best investment i ever made. If that is the only post you have made since 06 your not contributing anything to this community. Flame on

It's all about sustainability my friend...without paying memberships this site would have ceased to exist long before you ever registered. Instead it has steadily grown in membership, content and features. As a business model it has already shown that the overwhelming majority feel the membership fee is a bargain when compared to the time and money they have saved here. That is the nuts and bolts of all of this.

The more important part is being part of such a large group of like minded people, which we like to refer to as the CK5 brotherhood. Frankly you don't have to pay to be part of the bro'hood, but you do have to participate.

Yep, and this guy being round since 06', he sure has NOT partisipated at all with this being his FIRST post! :surepal:

Well, not everyone is a post whore like me...but my thinking is if he really had been reading a lot, lurking and not posting, none of this would need to be explained. I get the impression he registered in 2006 and only just showed up for the second time today.

I'm completely fine with the free access personally.

You know what is a shame though, my avatar disappearing when my membership ran out.

and thats fine, your a contributor, part of the community...

i always have to chuckle when these posts come up.... like it's some sort of guilt-trip... saying "what a great forum and archive", yet has not been a part of it or contributed... what a bs line...

I hate people that just bilk the internet, cruise around, glomming info and not contributing at all... or all they EVER use this place for is to get questions answered, or sell parts...

You don't even have to own a C/K5.

I don't own one, don't intend to own one, (got enough stuff going on without adding more) and almost never work on one.
But I feel I get my money's worth.
Of course, unlike the troll, I at least try to contribute what little I can when a subject touches on my fields of expertise.

Course, I suspect that a lot of folks here wish I would contribute less.
Probably not less posts, just less per post.:D

Well worth the price of admission. I'm sure most of us could drink our yearly dues in an hour............. :D

BTW, servers, software, and bandwidth are not free.

Maybe our government will bail you out and pay for your membership. Then maybe you could contribute.:wink1:
