In these pictures, what all has to come off the firewall, in order to take the body off? So much to do, so less time.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I seriously need some help from you guys!

How do all these come out? Some look like they just pop off, some look like they have a special sealent around them /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

How do I get those plugs out? Are they bolted to the firewall with that bolt in the center? I tried just pulling on the plugs, but they didn't move...

Re: What all has to come off...

for the body to come off you need to get the brake set up off or just pull the 2 lines off the master cylinder. then on the wiring just take that bolt out and the two halves will seperate.

Re: What all has to come off...

unscrew that bolt in the middle of the harness, then wiggle the harness till it comes out .

Re: What all has to come off...

Dissconect your break lines, fuel line, and any linkages for throttle, transmission, transfer case, ... ect. Jack body up slowly while checking for wires. Trust me, you'll always find wires that need dissconected.

park brake cable too! /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

How about another dumb question. I was going to take the 2 spiraling lines off the master cylinder a few days ago, but the way it looked, if I took the lines off, all the fluid from the resivoir would come out? Or no?

well I went out there an hour ago and started workiong on it again...
I got some of the wires off the firewall. The one I took a picture with was so easy I could have cried. I unbolted the bolt, and wiggled it abit, and the whole thing came off. I never knew it was one bit connecter /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif
Then I took the 2 spiralling lines off the master cylinder, hardly any fluid came out, just a few table spoons.

Then I took out the 2 bolts holding the ball thing that is to the right of all the wires on the firewall (I dont know the name of it, anyone know? It was empty when I unbolted it /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif )

Then I took the front driveshaft off which was a bit of a pain... then I got the x-case shifter linkage off, i hate cotter pins /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Now I have a question, on my front driveshaft, the u-joint where the axle is, I touched one of the end caps, and it fell off? Is that supposed to happen? Only 1 needle bearing fell out when the u-joint cap hit the ground.

That would be called a vacuum canister /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Yes, the end caps of a u-joint just slide on and off like that(unless they are bolted on and they slide off - that is not good).

another question, where do the fuel lines come off?
What is the easiest way to get the throttle cable off?At the carb, or in the tub where the foot pedal is?

Dont forget the gas tank filler neck and vent hoses(I have! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif).The vacuum ball dewhickey stores some vacuum, like a reserve tank. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Fule lines are easiest down by the fuel pump. Lower front passenger side.

Throttle cable is much easier at the carb. Should be a weird little clip, and then the cable will pretty much fall off.

Filler neck and breather is just a hose clamp.

Anyone mentioned the steering shaft? You can remove the bolts through the rag joint. Also need to undo the power steering lines.

OKay thanks, I saw the weird clip of the throttle cable by the carb, I will take that off.

Filler neck and breather are just a hoseclamp? sounds easy enough.

I will look for the fuel lines after the snow quiets down.
