I want to replace this alternator with something that puts out more juice. It's a one wire plug, plus the obvious power wire. I pulled it from a junkyard truck when I got the serpentine belt setup. I think it was a '94 1500 w/4.3. I'm just looking for 200amps and probably a one wire hook up. I see CS130 and CS144 and some other listings, but haven't a clue. What does everyone recommend?

Think that's a CS130.

The fancy shmancy stocker to get is from a Pontiac Transport, the van, with V6 and rear AC. They're rated for I think 140A.

To get higher output, you'll need an aftermarket one, and run your engine at WOT :)

cs-130 is stock on serp belt of our vintage. 105 is max factory amps. and if much more than that needed from cs130 dont bother. way to small and heat buildup problems.

i did a cs-144 upgrade from ebay seller and its 200 amps and 125 at idel. was over 5 years ago if i recall.

no more power problems on my plow truck with light bar 65 amps all running / truck needs with efi injection / heater / wipers / truck lights / plow lights .

this is the one i got. was on sale when i got it. thay do sales a lot.

I'm running the 105amp because it came with the serp system, but I'm also running EFI, a winch, and some extra lighting.

I'm not familiar with plow rig demands, sounds like a lot. For what I'm doing, the 200 sounds like enough. I'm mostly worried about idle amps, trail reliability, and replacing this so so junkyard alt. The EBay ones, are they one wire hookup or just like my current one? Also, and not to offend, these are expensive, more so than some of Summit's choices. 5 years is damn good for a hard working alternator though.... hmmm

mine pluged in just like it was stock and there from factory. no belt change . and with all my stuff working / on @ idel no problems for hr's .

you are not really mounting the fuel pump that high right?

Interesting stuff guys. I guess I'll take it from here.

I never really understood the numbers but I remember coming across them a while ago. I took the smaller alternator off my 2001 S10 and put a 2004 Avalanche alternator in it's place. It was much bigger. Plug and play, all I needed was a 1" longer belt.

It looks just like a CS130. Definately CS series. They come in different "clocking" for different applications, so pay attention when you look for a donor. Something to look into is running a sense wire for that thing. It could be that the Alt isn't maxed out and you just have voltage drop in the wiring. You can run a sense wire to your battery or somewhere and have it compensate for loss in the main Alt wiring. Or just start by looking at the main wire to see if it is long or skinny and address the problem there. Which is more important; performance or having 1 less wire? What are you running that needs so much power?

I am running two different configurations at the same time, so I guess that is 210A for hardly any money.

Im running a MEAN GREEN Alternator, havent had any issues, been in my truck for 8 years.

Well, gunna need to save up some $$$ again. Donated $250 to StandUp2Cancer.org. I hope it goes to the right place. My cousin had aggressive prostate cancer caught very late @ 41. Luckily he already had 3 kids and made a full recovery.
