What am I doing wrong? Can’t remove gauge cluster!

I got the bezel of, the gauge cluster is loose but I can’t get it out, its stuck behind the metal part of the dash. It’s like the hole for the cluster is to small… what is the secret?
 
If it’s any year besides a 90-91 you need to disconnect the speedometer cable. There is not a lot of slack in the cable and it is a pain to get loose from the cluster.

Same for the main connector to the cluster. Treat that one with care as you can really tear up the printed circuit up if you manhandle that connector.

One last thing is the teeny cable that goes down from the shift indicator to the column. It just clips on but easy to break if you don’t pull it free before trying to remove the cluster.

Mentioned below are the common issues. On my 88, I have to bring the panel out from the bottom first, then fight with the steering column interference. Usually put a thin rag over the column first so I don't scratch it up.
 
Thanks everyone! I guess I was on the right path, I'll try again and keep wiggle it.
Didn't think about the speedo cable tho, or the wiring...
 
Remove the dash pad first, then reach in the AC hole left of the column to disconnect the wiring and speedo cable.
 
It’s been a while since I’ve had a complete, stock cluster but I seem to remember part of the “bucket” the gauges are in being over the metal on the top and under on one of the lower corners. I think you have to gently rotate it a little to clear the corner that’s tucked under.

Once out you should have 4”-6” of slack to remove the harness and speedo cable.
