I cant seem to get any brake fluid to bleed through my passenger side caliper. Calipers are new. I am using a vacuum pump. It's all air, when I crack the bleeder screw. I pumped it over 20 times and still nothing. I cant imagine i would have to do it more than that. Almost started throwing things. Help. First time brake bleeder...

Thanks
Brian

I found that my vac bleeder didn't work on my calipers, I had to do the conventional 2 person pedal pumping method to get the air out of them.

Try gravity bleeding them. All you do is put a clear hose, if you have one, over the bleed screw into a jar, then open the bleed screw a little and let the brake fluid run slowly into the jar. Make sure you keep the master cylinder full of brake fluid. Once you don't see any more air bubbles close the bleed screw.

Now you can either vacuum bleed them or have someone pump the pedal and bleed them that way. If you pump the pedal make sure you don't push the pedal all the way to the floor. If you do it will ruin the master cylinder.

I feel like an idiot because I thought that is how you bleed brakes.:doah: How does it ruin it? soft pedal like my 94, or catastrophic? Maybe I should just put away the tools:( I tried the bleeder screws with check valves in them, but 3 out of four didnt hold.

When the brakes are working correctly, before you open the system, you only use some of the stroke to apply the brakes. The shaft gets a build up of dirt or rust on it at the end of it's travel. When you push this build up through the seal it ruins the seal causing it to leak.

It will cause a soft pedal.
