What are these welded holes in Diff

Trying to clean these up for painting and oil keeps leaking out . Should I just weld em up? What are they there for?

That's how they attach the tubes to the diff.

its a factory plug weld. there shouldn't be oil there. you should open it up and find out why.

A couple of mine were oozing a bit of oil and I just welded them back up where I saw a small hole. You might have to make a few passes or preheat it first so the weld doesn't crack as it cools.

If you just want it to stop leaking, silicone works too

if u have a welder, by all means, weld it but if u dont, JB weld also works well for jobs like this
