They look like a short course race tire

I had a friend who's family is big in the Baja / trophy truck circuit. They used to run BFG's and Goodyears that had the same markings on them. They were only sold in standard race sizes and were a different compound than the DOT versions. If I remember right, it was a harder tread compound than comparable DOT tires and intended for longer duration at higher speeds, kind of like Z rated car tires for the off road world.

I'm not sure if that's what you have in the pic, but I remember him always getting cool sponsor tires that I could never have.

Maybe some of the CK5'ers that run the Hammers can enlighten us.

We're sponsored by BFG for Hammers and they have a tire just like that thats not public purchasable. Its called a KRT and available in a different tread compound than the public version and has a ridiculous side wall.

based offthe old mt/r tread of good year.

and reason for no dot # is in the one pic you posted RACING ONLY :thumb:

Blah, details details. Im interested in how the perform on the street, plus your wheeling adventures. When my Boggers are done I probably wont buy another set, so Im exploring options.

A tire grover with a flat blade....

Would take those restrictive letters off

but you wont like race tires on the street. most are thinner sidewalls = more flex . and compound is so soft it would eat them up in no time on hard /hot street driving.

I mean for the dunes :D. I dont think the half hour drive to the dunes would eat em that quick.

Eh, nobody notices that stuff. I know of a guy that runs U-Haul trailer tires on the front of his box van. They say right on them "trailer use only, not legal for sale, property of U-Haul".

Idiot friend of mine ended up with a set of those, half worn. He threw them on his truck and wore the rest of them in a few short months. Seemed to be a real nice compound for the rocks, very soft.
