should be the 4l65e. not a hundred percent though. cant remember off the top of my head what year they switched.

the 4l65e is the same case just a lil bit heavier duty setup. you can use the 4l65e rebuild kit on the 4l60e. gm high performance has a write up in this months mag. basically they replaced all the week links in the 4l60e and called it the 4l65e

1993 was the first year for the 4l60E in the trucks & SUVs. RWD Cars got them in 1994.

the rpo for 4l65e is m32 and 4l60e is m30, afaik.

dont quote me but im going with the 4l60e. had a 01-02 z71tahoe and it had a 4l60e. In 2002, however, chevy did "beef" up the 4l60e (bigger sunshell or something) but it was still the 4l60e. Some 02 models go the beef ands ome didnt.thought the 4l65e was in trucks like the silverado SS and escalades until recently? I think all of the new half tons have the 4l65e. as slyguy said there are kits that make 4l60e a 4l65e pretty easily.

For clairfication. My statement was generic. By 1993 the 4l60E was completely phased in. Yes I guess some 4L60Es may have been put in trucks as early as late 1991. IIRC 4L80Es were also in 3/4 ton subs in 1991.
Also rember the TH 700R4 name was changed to 4l60 in 1990. But it was not electronicly controled.
