Re: What brand of 3/4\"ratchet
I had a 1/2 inch craftsman ratchet,a real oldie that my dad had--It had been stripped a few times and they gave him only the "guts" intead of a whole new ratchet, and it still skipped and would bust his knuckles,so he kinda just left it in the toolbox and bought another brand --I was about 10 or 12 (now 46!)and I used it on my first car and other toys, after I experinced the first knuckle smashing it caused I brought it to sears and wanted a new one (whole)as per the liftime warraty--the salesman said as long as the handle wasnt broken, all he could do was give me another rebuild kit,he would even install it for me--I said no thanks I'll be back.Went home, put it in a vise, got 10 foot peice of pipe and pulled so hard the jaws of the vise twisted and slipped!.My dad wasnt happy about the vise! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I smashed that ratchet with an 18 lb sledge hammer between a large crack in a boulder in the backyard.I brought it back and the guy gave me a new one, didnt ask any questions,I told him no lies /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif.
The new sears store isnt so picky--many folks here go to the flea market on sunday and buy craftsman sockets and exchange them for new--I have myself, needed a 1-7/16 socket for a transfer case yoke, got 1 for three dollars, but it was cracked--so what, back to sears and they traded it for one marked 17.99,brand new. They seem to know the newer stuff is crappy,so no arguments on replacements now.
Home Depot here will take other name brand tools and exchange them for their "husky" brand too!.I wonder how theese big chain stores can afford to give so many tools away-- /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
