the other day i was talking with my dad and he asked if i would be interested in towing campers this next summer with him. i told him it sounded like fun but i dont know what one of these things can pull, pretty sure the smallest camper they have is 25ft and the big ones well 40+ft. im going to have to put in trailer brakes which is no big deal. i guess what i am asking is would any of you tow a 30ft+ 6000lb camper with a k5

only going about 20 miles

To do it once, and you own the trailer...I guess so. If it's someone else's camper I'd say no.

I pulled a 21 foot camper trailer with mine, 5200 lbs, electric brakes and an EQ hitch and it was fine. I wouldn't go much bigger though.

they belong to the camper store, they are event rentals or something like that. really dont feel like getting thrown around by what im towing, i figured 25ft max.

i just wanted other opinions

thanks

With a Blazer, the question is not so much whether it can pull it, but how scary the ride will be. A short wheelbase vehicle like the Blazer doesn't tow as well as say, an equivalent Suburban, because it will be less stable and get pushed around by a big trailer. If you're only going 20 miles or so no big deal, just take your time, and avoid OD, if applicable.

It goes without saying to make sure your brakes, radiator, trans, etc are well-maintained and otherwise up to snuff.

i know when my drive train is all said and done it would have no problem with the pulling. like you say, being lighter and shorter wheel base than todays pick-ups, or the suburban, it makes me kinda nervous about being pushed around by a camper.

i also found out the smallest we will be towing is 30' and i have no intentions of pulling one of those down the road. prety sure we are going to use my k5 for camper placement and tow with the new trucks. last year they had most of their pick-ups get stuck because of all the rain.

i think this is where the blazer would prove itself helpfull

thanks
