guy says is an 1980 1 ton 4x4. I emailed him to get some more pics, but haven't heard back yet. He did respond this morning saying he still has it...

Rear end doesnt look like 1 ton, but it could be semi floating or not floating 12 or 14bolt if they made such a thing. I dunno, experts will be along shortly. lol

with the size/resolution of those pics, I can't really say much of anything aboot the axles... but that always seems to happen when pics are posted. I'm sitting there scratching my head and then some guy pops his head in and says "yeah, thats a 19xx 3/4 ton with a sb400, th400, 14b sf rear end blah blah blah" all from a little pic that doesn't tell me jack. lol! :thumb:

Im squinting over here.... is it me or does the frame stickin' out the front look kinda small for a 1-ton? Looks similar in size to my K5 frame to me... and 1 tons have taller/thicker frames dont they?

j

It has mid 80's front clip , the trim on the doors and bed matches , he says its a 1980 . Well if its cheap , like under 500 bucks , pick it up , the hubcaps scream 8 lug so it probably does have 8 lugs . Worse case its only a stolen 3/4 ton you can use for parts and not register :wink1:

bah, who needs to register anymore? My K5 ain't. Of course, it'll never drive on asphault again, so **** the government. :thumb: by the time I am done with it, anyone doing an inspection would consider it a "kit car" or something along those lines anyway. Only original part left will be the frame... and even that will be heavily modified.

As already posted it's definitely not 1980 sheetmetal, at least the front clip. The color and body trim match so I would tend to think the body is all original, but could be swapped onto an '80 chassis. The resolution and size of the pictures does not give me enough detail to see whether or not it's a D60 front, and can't tell the rear axle because of the hubcaps...but I would guess they are 8-lug.

The front clip is 81' +, the frame horns seem to confirm that, they apear to be cut on the angle. 8 lug seems likely with the hub caps. It's got no chicken lights so I'm going with 3/4 ton. My 83' 1ton fwiw

The grille on that GMC is from '81-'82 but the headight/parking light setup looks more like '83-'87...all '81-'82 Chevys and GMCs had the parking lights in the bumper.

Judging by the large hubcaps, it is at least a 3/4 ton.

But if that front clip is original it's definitely not an '80. My guess is maybe it's an '81 with a manufacture date of the latter half of 1980 and maybe that's why the guy thinks it's an '80.

hmmm... anyone else? wonder if there is any hope that it actually has a 60. My guess is no.

Look at the angle of that front center section.

I think its too late to have a 44, so 3/4 ton would have a 10 bolt. That don't look like a 10 bolt to me.

The size of the hubs poking through the hubcaps screams D60 to me. It's definitely not an '80 (for the third or fourth time)

I think it may very well be a 1-ton. Here's what a 3/4 ton hub generally looks like, pictured below is a K20 (3/4 ton) Suburban...

I have to agree with trustyk5, the hubs look like Dana 60 stuff to me.

Kinda curious about the block warmer plug hangin out the grill. Couldnt that help specify? Diesel maybe?

I dont think that is the truck in question.

At first glance, looks 3/4, but that is a Dana axle in it, and much to late to be a 44 unless someone slung a HD large hub in...is it a 60? go look for cheap, take it home, no questions asked
