What cooler is this?

Back story: My roommate just picked up an 88 Suburban 2500 for $3K. 11" lift, 42" swampers, 454, built 700R4, other fun stuff. She got a pretty good deal I think.

We found this cooler when tearing nasty subwoofer/storage wooden boxes out of the back. I'm guessing it's an oil cooler. I followed the lines up into the engine bay but lost them when they got out of reach. She wants to know if it's essential because she wants to use the back for camping in the mountains. There is a bracket for a cooler in front of the radiator, like my Suburban, but the cooler is gone. Was it moved or do 2500's come with this cooler in the back?

That was my first thought because the lines turn into what looks like rubber-coated low/high pressure a/c lines. But then I saw the empty oil cooler bracket. Also, the lines run from the engine bay to this cooler, and back to the engine bay. The rear a/c and heat unit in my '91 doesn't have one of these. Did GM move the lines up against the passenger side ceiling after '88? That's where mine are at least.

Looks like an aftermarket heater. I thought the suburban hvac stuff was in the roof. Is there a toggle switch anywhere for the fan, or does it come on when you turn on the heat with the dash controls?

This is a heater only, and the roof thing is a A/C only.
By the way if it is coming out and it's in good condition I might be interested in it.
I have rear A/C but no rear heat.

Rear heat is sweet, especially in a Blazer, keeps the rear window defogged.:D:waytogo:

Never seen one, but looks like a dealer / factory rear heat.

Go ahead and tear it out! Just be careful to not disrupt the AC lines if its still charged.

Awesome. She wants it gone so it won't get in the way during camping and hauling stuff. I should cap it off at the source in the engine bay right? The A/C isn't charged right now.
