If I had a stock 12 bolt and Dana 44 matched set, complete with all little widgets and knick knacks, and in fair condition, how much should I ask for them? At this point, the gearing is unknown.

i assumed that if it had a 12b rear it would have flat tops on the 44

the 12 bolt rear was used up untill 82, the d44 has been used in some up to 80 or so. the last flat top d44 was in 76 or 77.

personally i wouldn't pay over $200 for a set of 1/2 ton axles unless they are a deep ratio (4.10 or lower). i can't seem to sell them for anymore than that either.

I'm looking at buying a parts truck with 465/205, junk 350, and possibly 12bolt/D44. I haven't looked at it yet and the seller doesn't seem to be very bright. I send him an Email with three questions such as "Is it long or short bed?", "Is it a half or three quarter ton?", and "Where is it located?". The reply comes back "It's a long bed, when are you coming to pick it up I can deliver I have a rollback."
Anyhow, I was just getting some opinions since I was thinking about selling the running gear to get most of my $$ back. Also, I was thinking $300 for a matched set of complete axles was pretty fair.

I tried to sell my stock front axle for $100 for over 3 months without a single call. I ended up selling it for $30 just to get rid of it.

1/2 tons aren't really worth anything unless they have something special about them (4.10's or 4.56's, flat top knuckles). Even a matched 4.10 set of half tons with flat top knuckles on the front *might* be worth $300. IMO, you'd be lucky to get $100 for anything less.
