The only thing i could think of is that i had my engine bay detailed(they probly pressure washed it) a few weeks ago and havnt realy drove her since-is this one of those clean the plug type fixes??

oh and my electric fan is coming on when i turn it on eather

'93 K5?

Your last sentence doesn't make sense. Does the fan come on when you start the truck??? Yes or no? If it's an electric fan, is it supposed to come on immediately? I thought they came on when the temperature reached a certain setting.

There should be a pressure cycling switch on the side of the receiver/dryer (silver can under the hood). The connector for this may have come off. Also check the fuses. It's easy to trace the circuit if you have a voltmeter.

the fuses are good and i have had a problem in the past with the switch your talking about b/c i had a new motor put in a while ago and when they did the swap the plug in had to be pleaced/ rewired b/c the compressor was turning off and on evey 10-20 sec but it never caused it to not turn on

Do you have a multimeter? A pressure gauge?

With the meter, measure the switch resistance. It should read a couple of ohms or less. If it is really high, like Meg-Ohms, then it is just open - you probably need refrigerant. If it is some intermediate value like 10's of Ohms, the switch has probably gone bad.

The pressure gauge tells you if the compressor *should* be kicking on. The switch should only open when the pressure is low on the low side. I don't remember the pressure but it corresponds to about 38 degrees F for your refrigerant (should be printed on the gauge). You can try manually jumping past the switch for a few seconds to make sure the rest of the wiring is good. This should also cause a drop in pressure.

Ill be at my shop on saturday if you want to swing by I will check it out for you. Just pm me and I will get you my phone #
