Currently I run 3.42 with a ten bolt and a gov lock rear and open front. Will be going to a 12 bolt rear with 35 spline and 4.11's and detroit and a auburn posi up front. What diff covers should I spec out?

Not meaning to hijack but how did you get a 35 spline 12 bolt? Did you use a spool, or does someone make a locker with 35 splines?

sorry, I think I meant 32. What is the feeling about the Mag - Hytec covers?

In regards to the 14 bolt. With new wheels etc the cost is too much. For what I do, the 12 bolt is fine.

Super "boxy" covers can have interference issues with the gas tank (rear) or tie rod/draglinks (front)....

Something to consider... the CK5 Vendor forum offers some nice choices too.

The "Jethro Built" covers have the most beautiful welds you'll ever see. :usaflag:

I have the BlueTorch cover on the 12bolt.

It is a pain to get it to seal. I have it down now. Throw out the bolts and lock washers that come with the cover. Get some allen head cap screws no washers. Put some of the "Right Stuff" gasket maker on the cover, not the diff or you'll never get the gasket stuff where the cover lines up. I cut the heads off some bolts and screwed them into the diff to use to line it up without having to smear the gasket maker everywhere. Then bring ALL the bolts down snug before applying any serious torque. The welds are very close to the bolts, so you need to allow it to shift around so all the heads can properly seat. Then just torque them down once all the bolts are snugged and seated.

On the front Dana44 I run a Crane High Clearance cover. Very nice piece. No issues getting it to seal. I wish they made one for the 12bolt.

don't believe you can have more than 30 spline on a truck 12 bolt (6lug) axle.
never heard of 32 spline on a truck 12b either....anyway BTF cover all the way. (that would be Blue Torch Fab)

why not go 14s sf? stronger than a 12 and you can still go 6 lug

I didn't know you could do a 6 lug. I am not too concerned about the 14 bolt though as I don't get super aggro with it.
