What do these hoses do?

There are two rubber lines that feed into a little round box bolted to the top passenger side of the firewall. Any idea as to what they are for?

This is a mostly stock 81 k5 with A/C.

I think that might be a charcoal filter. Where do the hoses go from there?
Yard it outta there and plug off the places where it goes into the carb. And then if it smells delicious afterward that's what it was.

I'd guess it was a vacuum canister.

Agree, seems it's usually on the other side of the engine bay though. At least I don't recall that being the stock location.

Vacuum canister, like a battery for vacuum if it gets low (high?) Keeps the vacuum at a stable level with engine RPM changes, anyway.

First gens have it on the passenger side, but not sure later models.
