im my truck i have a 358 that was just done that uses race gas only....i got a real good deal on a 91 blazer with a tbi 350 with 91000 miles(250.00 ) the 700r4 is puked and the body i rough behind drivers seat, rear floor and floor pan, every pannel has a dent of somesort but it runs real well....would i pull the tbi and put that in my truck so then i could drive it everyday and use regular gas...? any ideas..? i really didnt wana fix the blazer and put money in it..
 
Since you have the entire truck it probably wont be too bad of a swap. You may run into transmission wiring issues, but nothing major, unless the truck your swapping the tbi engine inot has a 700r4 too. You do mean swapping the entire engine and not just the TBI stuff rite?
 
r u swapping just the intake and putting in the whole engine? if ur doing just the intake. u cant have (some people many argue this) over 10.2 to 10.5 compression to run on 93 octane.
 
ok, what i was saying or trying to say was i thinking of putting the whole engine, harness , computer and what the blazer has and swap it in using my 456..205 thats already in my truck. then i have an injected 350, ac, and a motor i can run regular gas in. now i have a carb and race gas, with the tbi i can drive it alot more and use the money im using for fuel to do other to my truck...but i dont know if its a good idea...any answers...? also how peppy are the tbi motors..?

ooo ok...hmm well if u dont care about power too much and just want to be able to drive the thing then i would put the TBI motor in there. TBI motors arent exactly power houses. but most of the time they run real good. unless your my brother. then ur engine hates life and keeps dying randomly.:rolleyes: but overall TBI isnt that bad. i would go for it. you can still have tons of fun without a built motor.
 
dont get me wrong i like the 358 lots but to use it slot its expensive, the cheapest ive found was 7.00 a gallon. is there anything like a cam or other addonns you can do to pep the tbi up...?..........or also there is a read good deal on a tuneport 350, but thats just the engine and i cant hear it run...i like the idea of the tbi to use year round since the blazer has ac that works,do you think behind my 465 with 456s it will run decent....with 37s..and also will my flywheel work since its for pre 86??

u can get the obvious intake manifold and stuff but if u get a cam. u can get a cam that has a chip that matches it to make the computer and everything happy. or u can get a cam and have a custom chip made up that gets really close but not exactly dead on to it.it would run smooth and everything but u would get the peak power u could get out of that cam. but with the TBI specific cam/chip it will be the peak power u could get from that cam. other then that....injectors and bigger TB's. and maybe some other little stuff some hardcore TBI guys might no. o ya the 37s and 4.56s will work perfect and the flywheel..i believe it will work, but im not 100% sure. some one on here might see this and be able to tell u for sure.
