What do ya think? \'84 for $4000

'84 Chevy, strong 454 w/headers, RPM intake, SM465, NP205, 14 bolt FF with 4.56s and a Detroit, Dana 60 with crossover, 4.56s, 4" suspension, 3" body lift, good tread 39.5" Boggers, Warn 8000# winch and bumper, cut out flares.

They decided they need to sell it and wanted me to buy it for $5000. I was like, I can't buy another truck. Then it was $4500. I said I couldnt do it. Now it's $4000 and I can make payments on it through Jan 1st, and I can strip it and re-sell the truck as a 3/4 ton with a small block if I want without them feeling bad.

What do you suppose part-out prices would be on individual items at high end?

454 $500-1000
465/205 (assuming 10 spline and mech) $300 max
D60 with 4.56s, $1200
Crossover, $200
Rear axle, assuming drum brakes, $300-400
Tires, whatever you can get for 'em, $500-700 maybe

That's about $3000. I wouldn't be in a hurry to try to sell it though....in the spring when guys are building up their rigs, it'll sell like hotcakes though.

I'd be willing to bet that if you get it, you won't want to cut it up though, you'll want to keep it. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

I "can't" keep it. I already have too many. If it were less money, I'd be tempted to keep it. (I've pulled almost all the strings on all of my rigs to have the least amount of money into them as possible).

I have a 350, 1/2 or 3/4 ton axles, a stock bumper and different tires to put back on it. It's rust free. I could put an automatic in it... but its hard to say whether that'll change resale value that much.

I'm still debating on whether it's worth my time though. In my mind, "if" everything went according to my ideal plan and I was able to resell it as a good 3/4 ton, it's a way to get more of the good stuff for cheaper than outright buying it.

Smog is one point I didnt think about. It's in Idaho now, so thats not an issue, but in my County in Washington, they have emmissions tests for vehicles under 25 years old.

All mine under 25 years old are registered up north in a different county, but for re-sale, this could be an issue here in town.
