What do you DD?

I'm driving my `1986 k5 Blazer around 12-13MPG in town. I can go around 350 miles on a full tank (31-gal)

Scary part is that outer nowheresville here, Traverse City, MI, is almost the same as SoCal.

diesel is 4.15 across the street from that chevron. BTW, that station is the hightest in San Jose, but closest to my house.

filled up this moring for 3.18 I think, honstly as stupid as it sounds I just dont care, I raise my prices every year and I have a fuel charge on all my trips, I have not one customer that has complained in 3 years.

I think its just about stupid how many people who could carpool and don't, I love my bigs trucks too, but it just seems foolish for someone driving 100 miles to go sit in a desk all day to drive a 10 mpg 4 door long bed..

I really think we bring this fuel problems and prices on ourselves. people want to blame the oil companies..

This is what I drive 10mpg :D

I just toped off the tank in Blazer today, $3.25, last week it was up to $3.45. And Diesel, $4.10
Me too,3.25 today. It go`s from 3.15 to 3.50 here day to day.Just have to drive aaround to find the cheapest.Driving around is like 6 miles though, from one end of town to the other end.

My DD is a 96' Acura TL 2.5 (5 cylinder)....it gets about 300 miles per tank. My K30 gets 10-12 MPG....it pushes snow....pulls my trail rig. I rarely use it..:doah:

My next project is building an electric car...utilizing a jet motor starter.:wink1:

Daily driver A: 19 mpg 1996 Crown Vic ex highway patrol car.

Daily driver B: 16 mpg 1990 Cadillac Brougham

Daily driver C: 15 mpg 1991 F150 4x4

Daily driver D: 12 mpg 1996 F250 4x4 (works for a tow rig too).

Daily driver E: 12 mpg 2003 Dodge 2500 4x4 (works for a tow rig too).

Daily driver F: 10 mpg Buford (works for a trail rig too).

I do use the first five for DD use...Buford stays in the garage most of the time. :D

I used to daily drive a 2004 F-250 diesel crew cab, about 17 MPG the way I drive and with the too big of Mud tires on it. I only tow with it now, The Blazer is for fun, 8 to 12 MPG I suppose. and I bought a 1350 dollar used Mazda car. The Mazda gets about 25 to 30 depending on how it is driven.

It's too late to buy a good econo car right now. A $800 Honda civic last October sells for about $4000 right now. Tax returns and fuel prices dictate that.

You need one more vehicle, what are you supposed to drive on sunday? :D

A POS rotting 88 chev that I have to work on way too much. The cab leans back feels like the bench reclines. Oh well it was $250 and I have been driving it a year... :haha:

You're right....he could use a blazer!!!!:wink1:

I wasn't counting the wife's '96 Ranger Splash 4x4, or her 1987 S10 Blazer 4x4....she's had it since high school. :wink1: The S10 is the only one that isn't insured/driven.

Kinda bored at work this morning (don't tell the boss). Here are some details of the jewels that currently reside in my garage/driveway.

I bought the 1990 Cadillac a few months ago for $650 from a man that resembled the Uni-bomber:

Summary: It’s like driving a couch….it’s slow but comfortable. Pimpin’ for cheap.

I bought the 1996 Crown Vic last summer for $370 at a local county surplus auction. I’ve put over 13,000 miles on it since, and have spent basically nothing on it since then.

Summary: One of the best deals I’ve found for a practical driver. I drive it more than everything else.

I bought the 1994 F250 4x4 for $500, at the same surplus auction, on the same day, that I bought the Crown Vic.

Summary: Not pretty, but it works, and I’ve definitely treated it like a truck….no worries of dings or scratches with this baby. The Lift gate works, and I’ve made a lot of $$ with this pile of Ford buying/hauling axles home with it. I’ve used it to tow Buford to trail rides up to 350 miles from home.

I was given the ’91 F150 Lariat (bling for 1991) 4x4 by my father in law a couple years ago. He bought it when it was one year old, didn’t drive it a lot, kept it in very good condition. A couple years ago he was rear-ended, it ruined the tailgate, rear bumper, gas tank, and put a crease in the passenger side of the bed. He replaced the rear tank, bumper, etc, and gave it to me. I don't have any interior pictures, but it is as close to mint as one could expect for being 17 years old. The 33’s in the pictures were only on there for a few weeks….it generally had/still has stock alloys & 31” AT’s on it.

Summary: Definitely not complaining about the price. Other than the crease in the passenger side of the bed, it still looks good considering it’s age. Also, it has 4.9 liters on inline 6 fury under the hood, along with uber high performance 3.08 gears & overdrive.

I bought the 2003 Dodge 2500 4x4 a few weeks ago on ebay, from Michigan for $10,800. 89K miles, hemi, 5 speed auto, 4 door long bed, yada, yada.

Summary: It's a nice truck, and it drives quite a bit nicer than the 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 (old body style) that I had a year or so ago. On my first towing trip with the 2003 Dodge, a $20 part failed & left me stranded along side the interstate, along with my trailer & Buford. The Dodge was towed home free via AAA, the trailer cost nearly $250 to have it towed, and I drove Buford home….and wasted a weekend of planned wheeling. I’ve since fixed the failed part, carry spares, etc….I’m sure it was just a fluke, but I found it ironic that the only vehicle that I own that the average person would consider “nice” is the one that left me walking. I'll be quite surprised if I own it this time next year, but who knows.

Buford: Bought it for $800 in 2003. I’m not going into details, but I will say that I’ve got my $$’s worth out of it. I’ve posted plenty of wheeling pictures in the past, and this thread is about DD use. When the “fancy” Dodge suffered an idler pulley failure a couple weeks ago (while towing the trailer & Buford), the old pile of Ford drove my happy arse (I assure you at that time, my arse wasn’t very happy) nearly 80 miles home, most of that was on the interstate. To make a long story short, a random person took these pictures of Buford on the interstate as a joke, and this person happened to know a woman I work with, and she found them & sent them to me…this was less than two weeks ago:

Summary: Ugly old bastid will not die. Like the pink bunny from the battery commercials, it keeps going, and going, and…………….

For the record, I'm 30 years of age and have owned right around 60 vehicles. Buying & selling cars/mostly 4x4 trucks is a hobby of mine....provides some extra "play money" for the wheeling hobby, and as they say variety is the spice of life. :wink1:
