I ask because if you have barn doors. I see know way to put a tire carrier on the back. If you have a 40" tsl that is a lot of room inside that is now gone. So what do you do??

mine is just ratchet straped to the floor.
I thought of building a roof rack but didnt like the idea of lifting a tire up there alone

i WAS going to do a roof rack mount, but too much stuff gets caught up there as is with my small roof rack.

i am going to build a swing away carrier that will leave just enuff room, to open the one barn door (once i swap the doors in:)).

that way you only have to swing it open to get both doors open may block the tail light but i would relocat a trailer light to the rear off the gas can mount or something.

a 40 inch might not be doable in that fasion.

check the post that agdieseler he made a cargo/airtank/spare rack that used the 3ed row seat mounts to lock it in the rear.

thx for the link. So you can make a tire carrier? How tho? I dont see how you could with barn doors. Anyone have pics? thx

Easy enough to do it with barn doors just like a tailgate. You swing the tire carrier away first, then open the door. It would just mean that the carrier pivot post would have to be at the very outmost portion of the bumper and have at least a 180* swing, if not a little more swing to it.

my spare just lays in the back with nothing holding it down. it does slid around alopt but that's it. I dont have a 3rd row seat.

i have yet to build mine as i have yet to get barn doors, (soon).

when i do mine i am planing to have the pivot far to the left and away from the truck a bit,

so that when it pivots it will run along the side as much as posibull.

and as for the roof rack storage, i have an i dea to make it much easyer to get the tire up/down.

iff yo made a small rack for the tire to bolt to that was hinged to the rack at the rear portion ot the truck and would hinged down towards the rear, you sit the tire in it and then flip it up on to the roof where it would be sitting ontop of the tire.

it could bee locked from the hinge and you cold even add little shock obsorber from a newer hood or van hatch to make it smother.

let me see it i can draw it.

brb.

the only thing i dont like about that is, I need acsess to the rear of my sub more than i need my spare, and that woulad be in the way more, :dunno:

That guy has some nicely made bumpers. Seams like a good idea too. Wounder if he could mount a hi lift and 2 jerry cans on there. Now that i think about it i see know way to do that.

Yea muddysub hatebreed was my first show, was hooked after that. SSooo good live. Wish the would come around where i live again.

thx

i think im gonna make a rack on the top of mine for my sub. yes it might be a little bit harder to get to, but i dont think ill ever need it. but its still there if i do.
