I'm in the market for a new carb. I really don't want to sink a ton of $$$ on one. I have seen the Holley Model 4160 Non-Adjustable Float Carburetors on summitracing.com.

Do you think that would be a good carb for a 350?

I was going to go with this ( http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku )modle before I started to wonder about the 4160 Non-adj...float carb listed above.

I was also thinking about buying a Qjet off from summit....but it looks like I would have to block off a ton of vacuum ports.
Thanks
Adam

Frankly I would use niether of those carbs on a 4x4 unless it is just a Mall queen.
If you are goinng to use your truck offroad get a Q-Jet or Holley Truck avenger.
Also what kind of Intake manifold do you have Spread bore or square bore?
Neither of those carbs you linked to will fit a stock chevy manifold.
If you are still using the stock spread bore manifold. The Summit Q -jet would be your best and cheapest route.

I have the original version of that in the garage sitting near my Chevelle , 0-1850 , must be 15 years old now . Runs great on a 3500 pound car with short tires and highway gears .

Wouldn't put it in a truck , unless your only running mud .

if given the option, the only carb i would ever run is a q-jet. it just so happens that they also appear to be good for offroading. the q-jet is very tuneable, ive never had anything but good results with mine (on a sbc 350 in a 1977 olds Delta 88), when they are properly tuned, they get great throttle response, good mileage when you stay on the small bores, and a good snap to the neck when the big butterflys open up.

my brother has a 73 bronco, with a ford racing 302, and an edelbrock carb, and it has never run right. ive never worked with holley carbs, but most guys i talk to really only like how easy it is to change jet sizing. The q-jets seem to be harder to work on, but when you get them set up, they work better. at least thats the vibe ive gotten over the years.

to be completley honest, ive only ever worked on my olds' q-jet, and my brothers edelbrock, im far more well versed in fuel injection.
