What do you like from Harbor Freight

That non treated A frame got a longer top beam and has been serving as an outdoor tire swing frame for a bunch of years now lol.

Woods not a long term deal, but perfectly sturdy enough for a single project. And less than $100 :waytogo:

No I may do that I just thought about ol chubbs, may he rest in peace, and took the opportunity to be a funny fork. I really like the price point

We have a pic of chubbs on a dudes locker at work.. he stuck his fingers too far under the safety fence on the shear once.

Luckily only smashed the tips of 2 fingers with the hold down clamp.

I bought one of the hydraulic lift tables a couple of years ago. They sell two capacities, I got the stronger one.
I checked the reviews before I bought, and there was a lot of bad ones. Most all of them said a version of the same thing.
Worked a couple of times, then would not lift any more.
I needed one, so I bought one.
It did just what the others did. Lifted great about three times, then I could pump and pump, and it never even wiggled.

Made no sense whatsoever. No fluid leak, pump pedal felt normal, just no lift. I thought it might be an air bubble, so I held the release lever and pumped a few times. Released the lever, it lifted once. I let it down, would not lift again. But, I was suspicious. Something fixed it for one lift. I lay down on the floor, got a friend to work the pump and release lever. Suddenly it worked again. Good and strong. I got him to let the table back down, and saw it. The little control cable between the lever and the release on the pump has several bends and is cheap. Many times when you let go of the lever, it goes all the way back, but the cable in the sheath binds, and the actual release does not close.

I straightened the cable in places, oiled it, and it got better, but all I have to do is let the control lever on the handle snap back and that usually does it. Some times I have to do it a couple of times, or just reach down and move the release by hand.
Eventually it will either wear in and get better or quit completely and I will replace it.
Other than that, it has been flawless. I suspect that is the cause of all the bad reviews and defective units.
Many times places like that do not return defective stuff to the maker, just toss it. I think I may check with the manager and tell him if he tosses any lift tables because they are defective, I can use them for parts........

BTW, one of the best things I have bought there, of all things, is this:
https://www.harborfreight.com/3-inch-ceramic-paring-knife-98183.html

Its like all ceramic knives, brittle, so you have to use it with care, but I have two of the little ones, and they are razor sharp when you buy them. I use one for cutting roast beef, or steak when I'm eating, and even the toughest meat just falls apart.
After about a year of using one on paper plates to keep from dulling it, it finally started getting "dull". It actually got to about the point of a regular steak knife. I bought a second one, just as sharp out of the box as the first, and tried using a diamond hone to sharpen the first one.
I never got it as sharp as it was out of the box, but I did get it sharper. I think I need a finer grit, but I'm working on it.

I absolutely love thier 1 ton gantry! I use it all the time. My new preferred way to pull a drivetrain! Engine, tranny, tcase all in one go by myself. Way faster and easier than the typical engine hoist. It's also helpful for loading heavy stuff into the bed of trucks, as well as pulling body's and beds. Definitely my favorite tool from them

I bought an Earthquake 1/2" impact gun from a guy at the flea market, who has an "in" at HF and sells many of their tools .
Supposedly this one is the XT model that has the most torque..
I have yet to try it on anything,it was brand new in the box,I paid $40 for it...he wanted $50 for the impact and a set of 1/2" sockets he had,but all I had on me was $40 and he took it for both items..

I also picked up a set of 3/8" impact sockets also, from him,and another set of deep metric 3/8" sockets that are color coded,a plus for me with my crappy sight up close, its tough to read the socket sizes..

I have got several of those LED lights pictured above, and a new one they came out with that has the LED "strip" light ,which is super bright,Snap-On seels a nearly identical one for $50,I paid $5 for two of them from the flea market dealer..he also had a triangle shaped LED light that flashes like a strobe or can be a flashlight,I got one of those for $3 too...

I have yet to set foot in a HF store--closest ones are 15 miles away..
I would like to get at least one of their 4 or 5 drawer tool carts,my old Blue Point hip roof tool box is stuffed so full I cant close it easily, and it is so heavy the handle would break off ,if I could lift it!..
I had to start filling other tool boxes with my tools, now its a pain to find what I'm looking for,its always at the bottom of the last box I look in it seems..want to get all my tools in one roll around cart or chest..
Sears had a 50% off sale on their tool chests, since their store is closing next month, but I called the store and the employee said "That was for what we had "in stock" only, and they all flew out the door the first few days.. he suggested Lowe's,who now carries the Craftsman line, but their prices are double what HF is and I wasn't that impressed with their quality--felt like tin,and the drawer slides were not ball bearing or even a tight smooth "glide"...

I picked up one of the riv-nut tools yesterday to help fix the gas tank skid on the X.

The tool worked ok. I was able to set a 1/4-20 riv-nut in the frame without any issues. It held the skid on just fine and I think it'll work fine till I can get a real skid plate for this thing.

little late to the party, but I have a bunch of HF stuff. Currently rocking the 44 inch box about to upgrade to the 72 inch, ran out of room. 20 ton press has done fine for what ive needed. Had a used 2 ton orange cherry picker that was tweaked, but it lifted everything i threw at it. 4.5 grinder was good. older 18 inch 1/2 inch breaker has had a bunch of weight via breaker bars. Got the new yellow 3 ton daytona jack and its one of the nicest ones ive used, used it to lift the front of my k5 up and pulled on it to move the front over about a foot. 3 ton and 12 ton jack stands have been great, 12 ton got the back of the blazer up enough to swap the axle with 35s bolted up. Just bought their new snap ring pliers and used it to take about the hubs, seem nice. Just bought air compressor, blast cabinet, and parts washer still need to get all set up, but have heard good things. As far as power tools I use milwaukee m18 tools.
