I need tires for the dually really bad. I need E range and other than that don't know what to go with. I want to try and stay away from bfg. So what's everyone running?

I have Pro Comp Xteme A/t's on my 2500. They are load range E, not too loud on the highway, are extreme weather rated (and do great in the snow & rain), and have a 40,000 mile tread wear warranty. I found LT265/75/R16 for $150 on the net, and had 4 Wheel Parts match it. Don't know if they have skinny ones for dualys though.

Just a single rear wheel 2500HD, but ran the OEM 245/75R16 Bridgestone E-rated street tires, 265/75R16 Trxus MT D-rated, and now 285/75R16 BFG all-terrain D-rated. I tow my 1-ton K5 on a 2,500 lb. trailer, so total load is around 8,500-9,000 lbs.

Keep in mind that there is more to the load capacity then just the letter rating (C, D, E, etc...). The size makes a difference to, for example a D-rated 285/75R16 has a higher load rating (the actual XXXX lbs. per tire) than an E-rated 245/75R16. I've had people argue that my D-rated 285's with a load capacity of 3,200 lbs. per tire would explode and kill a bus full of nuns if they just looked at a trailer, while the E-rated 245's that were only rated at 3,000 lbs. per tire were perfect for towing :dunno:

I got a great deal on the Trxus and thus the only reason I went that aggressive. You could definetely feel the tread squirm in the corners as they weren't as solid feeling (caught my attention the first sharp corner after install) but quickly got used to them. Never notice any major difference in handling or comfort when towing the trailer.

The BFG All-Terrains handle a little better, and are way quieter. Again no real difference regarding handling or comfort whent towing.....do notice the slight loss of "power" due to the larger size.

305/70-R16 Nitto TG's load range E.
They've been great as far as towing goes. I have many trips to the coast and the mountains towing trailers and have NEVER had a single problem.

I run Bridgestone Revo 2's on my Dodge 2500 ctd and love them !!! This is my second set (285/75-16's) they are E rated and are IMHO the best tires I have ever used for a DD/ work truck/ tow rig. I generally pull loads of 8-12k and put approx. 30-40k miles a year on this truck with 10-15k of that towing. My first set was replaced with 72k on them and had just begun to hit the wear bars, with 60k on the first set they pulled me through the east coast blizzards last year with no problems. They are great in the rain, quiet on the road , ride nicely, wear great, and even do decent in mud.

when the tires on my dually are done Im probably going to go with michelin ms2 or at2's. Heard nothing but good stuff and just under (for the at2) to just over 100k tread life expectancy.

Pro Comp M/T 35x12.5x18 E rated
very stable at high/ low speed, works great aired down, hasn't done me wong
That's an 11'3" camper that's close to 6k lbs unloaded, normally towing a 14' trailer with sand rail or quads + firewood.

after doing some power surfing......... I see the newest Nitto release, Trail grappler is getting very good over all reviews on the big heavy diesels. and in my size :waytogo: I'll have to look into pricing for them. 37s will help out the 4.30 gear ratio too.

I've been looking around. And as much as I dont' want BFG's it looks like that might be the way I go. The BFG All Terrains are the best price I've found in my tire size. I think that's another problem, is my size seems like there isn't much offered: 235/85/r16

price I'm looking at is $137/tire

I have some damn near brand new tires and rims that came off the truck above. The truck was in an accident, painted an older blue and lifted at the same time. I think the tires have 1500-2000 miles on them, stored inside, with factory rims. They are E rated, stand 31" tall for a 16" rim. Can't separate though, you get the rims too if you're interested.
