So the other day I got permission to raid the scrap hopper from our prototype department at work. I grabbed a bunch of stainless 3 inch mandrel bent pipe and a muffler, and went to work over the weekend replacing my crappy stock system.
New specs:
- 3 inch from the y pipe back
- No cat converter ( No emissions checks of any kind in Michigan
)
- An unknown experimental muffler
All in all it turned out pretty well. I ended up having to go back and splice in a few more slight bends to fix a misalignment I didn't see initially, but other than that it worked out without a hitch. I just wish I would have had stainless steel wire instead of the flux cored stuff, but I think that's the least of worries about rust on my truck
. For the most part, I just cut and fit bends that looked like they would work and tacked them together underneath the truck:
who needs this garbage? ; )
