What does a factory correct 1974 NP-203 shifter knob look like on top where the decal is? :dunno:

Well, I'm quite sure I have seen one. I was riding in GM 4wds back then, but I would not have a clue.
As I vaguely remember, they weren't fancy. Probably just a big rubber knob with the numbers molded it with some white paint.

Maybe a hard black plastic insert with the numbers engraved with white paint, but I have no idea.

My '76 has a black shift knob with the 4wd "stick figure" drawing on it...it shows the driveshaft and differentials with lines going to all 4 wheels. The boot plate has H Loc, H, N, L, L Loc on it in raised letters. My buddy has a '77 that has the same thing. I think they went to the shift pattern on the knob in '79.

Here's a scan of the '74 Blazer brochure. If you look at it closely, you can make out the arrangement I described, but the picture isn't very clear.

If you need it, I can take a pic of the one in my K5.

HTH.

I have one somewhere in my shed, its still on the shifter --not sure what year the NP-203
T-case was,I still have it but haven't looked at it in a decade!...next time I go in the shed I'll see if it has a tag on it still...I'm not sure if the shift knob had a shift pattern on it or not,I'm thinking the floor plate around the shifter boot had the 2wd and 4wd positions in it ...
