The only rear candy apple red I have seen shot is killer. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
My buddy shoots on a silver base and then goes over it with a House of Color candy colors. The candy colors are almost transparent by them selves.I guess if ya wanted a metalic candy you could lay down a silver with more metalic in it.
I wouldnt put it on something I was gonna wheel though. Its expensive and hard to touch up.
Sounds pretty cool. The paint that I am looking at looks really red, but it is called candy apple red. My wife will be doing most of the driving and most will be on pavement, so I guess I won't have to worry too much about damage, except when I leave the Jeep at home and sneak the K5 out to wheel. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
A local body shop has a Toyota on display that looks like orange Jello (bright, deep & clear). Someone told me it was a "candy color" but I don't know for sure if it is. It does look like it would be a major bitch to touch up.
A real candy paint will look like you can dive in and swim around. DEEEEEEP!
The closest thing to a candy paint that is easy to find is newer Mustangs w/ the burgandy color on them. They are a tri coat, sort of a redish copper gold color 1st stage w/ a blood red transparent secondary color then a clear topcoat.
Touchups are close to impossible on real candy jobs. And only a select few really have the skill to paint candies and make them perfectly even.

[/ QUOTE ] This is a pic (sorry for the quality) of my Blazer that I painted "Passion Red Mica". This is the same color as 2001 Mustang. The flames are blue pearl. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
Hell, lately I'm all over the web's off road pages. Except for POR, they've effectively exiled me with the I.E. specific programming and I got major attitude when I asked about it.
Ummm, sorry, shouldn't hijack a thread like that......
Candy Apple Red paint is a sharp color. My Harley is candy apple red. If you are planning on spraying this yourself good luck if you are not a God-like painter. It is the hardest stuff in the world to apply.
