Just wondering how "economical" your diesels are?..I get between 15 and 22 mpg in my K2500 pickup,it has a TH400 and unknown ratio axles, probably 4.10's or 3.73's I'd guess..doesn't seem to matter if its empty, loaded, plowing, etc, the mileage stays about the same..I seem to get worse MPG in colder weather, which is not unusual for a gas engine,so I'm not surprised..

I am wondering what I can expect for MPG in my '85 K10 Suburban, with 3.73's and a 700R4 ,with dinky 215/75-15"s on it...worse than my pickup, better,or about the same?..I never thought my 6200 lb pickup would surpass the 20 mpg barrier, but it has a few times under ideal conditions on local back roads..thats equal to the MPG the 1993 Caravan I use often gets with its 3.0 V6!..

17-20 MPG out of my 91 V1500 burb with a 700R4 and 3.73's and 35" tires and I never calibrated the speedo after swapping out the 31's it had stock so I'd would guess my actual MPG's to be around 20-22 and my truck idles alot lol

I bought my '90 K5 back in 1994 and it was completely stock except for 32" mud tires with under 49k on the clock. It consistently got mid to high teens and that was not taking into account the larger tires (MPG would have been slightly higher if corrected). That was mostly city and backroads driving so lots of stops and starts........and I was a teenager that always had the gas pedal to the floor.

I average 23 mpg in my pick-up. 75% freeway, 25% hell...It's gotten 25 mpg a few times (more freeway, less hell). The weird thing is it seems to get slightly better mileage if I drive at ~70 mph than it does if I keep it around 60 mph.

235-75's, 3.42's, 700R4

15-17 city / 20-23 highway

NA 6.2 / TH400 / NP208 / 3.08 gears / 33 in tires / 55-60 mph

Ive seen some claims of otherwise stock trucks getting 25-30 mpg with a swap to an overdrive manual transmission.

Might be fun to get a regular cab, short bed, 2wd silverado. slam it to the ground, put a 6.2 with the banks sidewinder turbo on it, back it with an NV3500, smooth small tires, and 3.08 gears. see how far into the 30's you could go with it.
