Hi guys I'm new at the forum but not so new at workn on chevys. I've got a 86 k5 I'm workn on 305 700r4 military tons w 456 gears 8in lift and 38 15.50 MTZs .I strarted on this one because 77shortbed 4x4 jst got totaled but after driving them both I like the k5 much better. The question I was wanting a general opinion on is the engine. I had jst put a 05 5.3 w a nv4500 and 205 in my pickup maybe 2wks before I totaled it and I didn't ever get a chance to really drive it and feel the motor out.I've got a 454 sittn on the engine stand w porter 781s big valves 9:1 compression and a comp xe268 cam the motor needs and intake and carb and it will b finished I pulled it out of my 82c30 and redone it and it hasn't been started yet. I also have have a mild 406 sbc I bought cause they shaved a lobe if the cam and it's all new also. What motor would u guys run it's a toy not a daily driver or a rockcrawler. I drive it work a couple times a week and run it around on the weekends. I like the auto tranny I jst drive it in 3rd and put it in od when I run 60 mph and over so keep in mind I'm not putting the 5spd in yet let me know what u think
