What happens when you go grinder mad? 13 bolt pics

some gearssts are bigger my 5.13 don't hit the cover but my buddies does so he had to cut a hole in his cover and weld a plate over the hole to clear his ring gear
 
do a search on pirate for Shaving the 14 bolt, and you get a hell of a lot of ideas. some people grind down so far that they actually Grind the ring gear down so it clears the bottom of the pumpkin....
 
this has all been discussed before, this post is just the pictures I finally got of how far I went. I would keep going and plate the bottom but there is no way I have the skills to weld cast.
 
Seems like a good way to go if you want a cheap rear end that is still HD. Seems that is the biggest complaint with the 14bff, clearance, so something like this is a good option and if you screw up, your out what, $150?
 
Ever thought about adding a lip to that part of the diff cover (on the inside of the diff, not the outside)? It would require a lot of work to make it fit just right, but could potentially add sealing area on that bottom area. Just a thought since you do not want to weld on cast.
