What has 63\" springs on it?? mine were stolen.

I leaned mine against the fence yesterday morning, on the inside of my yard, and when the garbage came and went, so did my springs /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif i had them there for just a few minutes to move them, so now the gabage company is replacing them, and speaking to a driver!

MY QUESTION:
these were sold to me, and I dont know what they came off of, what do I have to find these on to replace them? /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Re: Where or what....to find 63\" springs? mine were stolen

The correct years are 1988-1998 1/2 ton Chevy or GMC truck that these springs came from.it does not matter if they are from a 2WD or 4WD. The 2WD have 3 leaves
plus and overload leaf. The 4WD have 4 leaves plus and overload leaf. The 2WD are the
most desirable because they are softer with only 3 main leaves and are good on a pickup. You can use
the 4WD but you will have to pull out one leaf. Don't get me wrong the 4
leaves will work but most guys run 3 plus overload leaf. Some just run only three leaves.
Also some people run add-a-leafs too. Just depends on what you want to achieve. Pay no more than $100 a pair.hope this helps!

front or rear? if these were stock then why would folks swap thiers out for more stock /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Re: Where or what....to find 63\" springs? mine were stolen

I am thinking rear springs. Mo, Mo Flex!
Bill

Re: Where or what....to find 63\" springs? mine were stolen

basic physics: the longer the spring the more flex it has.

ummm they were rears.. theres no leafs in the front of 88 to 98 ck series,LOL

Re: Where or what....to find 63\" springs? mine were stolen

derrr, ok, im still mad mine are gone so i didnt think of that. so why dont the pickups that had those flex /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: Where or what....to find 63\" springs? mine were stolen

Swap out the front with 52" from rear gotta move front hager forward too. And swap in 57" ford in the rear for ultimate flex! /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

Re: Where or what....to find 63\" springs? mine were stolen

I f you were to run a 63" with a shackle flip will that also equal lift. And will you need a longer shackle? why?

I want to run 52's in the front and 63'3 in the rear with my shackle flip. Will I need a 2" lift 52" spring for the front?

I plan on extending my wheel base (alot) /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

Re: Where or what....to find 63\" springs? mine were stolen

It's all good I just didn't want to get in your way when you come rollin down my road! /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

Re: Where or what....to find 63\" springs? mine were stolen

With an extra 63 feet wheel base I hope there are no turns on your road. I cant turn to well /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

Re: Where or what....to find 63\" springs? mine were stolen

I haven't worked with 63's yet so You'd have to get ahold of someone who has. I do you you'll have to move both hangers (front mount forward and rear flip as far back as you can)

Re: Where or what....to find 63\" springs? mine were stolen

The back end will flex like mad on my 88 Chevy, but the front sucks ass. IFS blows goats.

Re: Where or what....to find 63\" springs? mine were stolen

Once again hoping to not sound dumb, BUT do you have to extend it the full 11" (difference between 52 and 63) or do you want it to have more of an arch. And I still dont understand the why a longer shackle is neccessary? I am not dumd i promise just confused? /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Re: Where or what....to find 63\" springs? mine were stolen

you will have to move em, not sure if it is the full 11" though.

the spring has a certain arch of travel the shackle needs to match that travel as best as possible otherwise the springs are worthless. run too long of a shackle and it'll bounce like crazy and have to much side to side movement.

Re: Where or what....to find 63\" springs? mine were stolen

So then I want to try and keep my stock shackle? Maybe an inch or two longer. SO what is the deal with to short of a shackle not being able to utilize the full potential of a 63 or 57 inch spring? /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif
