Came across some factory tow hooks today that I pulled. There is a nice 71 K5 in the yard with a 4 point roll bar. Someone had all ready pulled the NP205. Today was half off and the tcase normally costs $89 bucks. Not a bad deal for someone.

Rear TA Disc brakes I put on my 63 Chevy ll for under $50

and may sound dumb, but once I pulled a carb for a Subaru Justy I bought for $35 with carb troubles. THis one particular carb i was looking for was almost impossible to find and I got the carb for $20 with core....SCORE

So I had $55 in a car that got way better milage than my K5. It paid for it self in about one tank

this could get ugly :)

DRW D60 for $69

I don't like you........................:D

I thought my SRW 60 from a M1008 for $250 was a good deal :dunno:,they even removed it and loaded it onto my trailer, I'm still happy with it :D

better deal than mine considering I still have to buy srw hubs:waytogo:

Not so much a deal but just "odd" ,

I went to the pick and pull as I had seen a Blazer that I wanted to get the rear power window, cable and I needed the pass. side kick panel.

I went on my lunch break so I didnt have much time. To get the rear window motor you have to take out about 20 screws to remove access panel. Well, When I went there, someone had removed the panel but the motor and cable were there. I was like okay, 2 bolts and the motor was out.

I moved to the front to get the pass. side kick panel. Now if anyone has ever removed this panel it can be a pain to get to the top screws, well, in my case, someone had removed the glove box which gave me perfect access to the top screws.

I was in and out and 10minutes. Its just weird, all the time consuming pieces were moved out of the way for me. lol.

*off topic here, if you ever get a rear window motor, testing it can be weird, neither wires are ground, I think you ground thru the body of the window motor. If you try and do one ground and one positive on the motor, nothing will happen and I suspect you could damage it. Just food for thought.

Reupholstered bench seat, dash cover, door panels, headliner, dash bezel that was pretty good, sun visors, basically a whole interior. Wasn't perfect, but not bad at all for being 30+ years old ( it was for a 73) for 20 bucks.

Before they were making the 73-75 grilles as repops I found one that was perfect on the ground, no cracks, no chips, all mounting positions in great shape. Didn't really pay anything for that one though, I know the guys at the wrecking yards around here pretty good.

My buddy has everyone beat though, we were kicking around in a yard some years ago, looking for parts for his Dads mid 70s Chrysler gigantic wagon.

Popped open the hood of a wagon the yard had and holy crap there sits a 429 hemi before us. Bought the whole car for 250 bucks, had headers a Dana 60 rear with 4.10s and a detroit locker, motor ran awesome, it had some high dollar parts in it too.

That is the best find I have ever heard of

I got my SRW D60 front for 150. Got a whole bunch of minor cosmetic things that don't even matter anymore haha

I don't go to Pick'N'Pull.... Cuz around here, it's "Pick'Ur'Pocket."
They pull everything out of their vehicles, and lay it all out, pre-priced.....

D60's are like $1000..... :eek1:
-------------------------------

I go to "Area 51" - Auto-recycler's....

Best deals:

- I got spare shafts for my 14bff/10b, for $20 total!!!

- My 2WD steering box, was $10.

- 2004 Dodge Neon bucket seats, for the F-250, were $20!!!!!
(*The Neon had 24k, on the clock.)

Do Tow yards count?

If so $15 for HP Dana 60 with 4:10's, it was really free but he charged me $15 for the gas to cut it out :woot:

bought an entire blazer (minus the motor) for $400. ended up using the 14b ff rear and the 10 b front. plus kept the hood, the rims, the cap and the guy offered me the manual tranny (some straight gear, rock crusher tranny?) but I turned that down. should'a taken the entire thing for a body-off restore. oh well.

I got 5 Pontiac Rally rims with decent tires off a T/A for $25. Later the same day, I found a passenger side fender for my 1972 Pontiac Ventura II off of a 74 Buick Apollo for $15.

The best part is, after paying $40 for all this, I sold the tires to a friend of mine for $20 for his Pontiac Catalina.

Wow, sweet deals, but still gotta be careful they sometimes charge way more than worth imo, and lately they hit you with a Bull Sheet core charge

I went with my dad when I was a teen. he was looking for a 4 spoke steering wheel out of a z28, he finds one bends it with his hands put the horn button in his pocket and takes it off.

Goes to the counter and asks how much for this bent steering wheel
with no horn button.
The guy looks up and says just take it.

My dad was the most honest guy I have known cept that day.:haha:

I got a 4inch lift for my old 78 jimmy from the same yard for 50 bucks a few years later.

Got a chrome grill for my 84 Landcruiser from that yard that was in a fire,it was all black, got it for 5 bucks took it home and no time had it looking like new with some steel wool.

I miss that yard... its still there but I live 12hours away from it now.

does the best deal you couldnt take count?

found a srw dana 60, but had my integra that day and none of my buddies with a truck could come up. would have spent about 200 that day to.

xj steering shaft already removed, new model 14bolt for 85$ 2wd box for something like 20$ and some other random stuff.

Im sure im not the only one who could just wander the yard and not pick anything but have fun

In the event I find a Dana 60 front in the yard it would need to be pulled fast or someone else may take it. In an emergency I'm thinking I could tear it down completely and fit it in the back of my Honda if no one was around to help. It would be worth the $200 gamble even if it didn't fit.
