Well thanks to the endless knolege of every one on this site, My 456/205 has been in and the 700R4/208 is out. Works like a champ and its a completly different animal. Now I need to get the exhuast set up, and I was thinking of going simple, Headers, Purple Hornies Flange style glass packs, and dumping it either infront of the rear axel or out infront of the rear tires. Questions are will it fit outside of the passinger side of the massive 205 case. What Headers are good on a budget. I was thinking of getting the summit headers, cause all there dimmentions match that of most popular brands and they are only around a 100 dollars. Who has a 350, 465, and 205, and how'd you set up your exhuast on a budget. Also my K5 is emmitions exempt, and I love a throaty LOUD exhaust.

Not sure about your combo. Be that as it may. I really like my setup. Its on a 305 cid. Im running Heddman Headers, Catco cats, Flowmaster 40series muffs and running tail pipes straight out the back.

Any time you run pipes out the side near the doors/windows, youll get alot of noise and fumes, guaranteed. While you may think itll sound cool, itll kill ya with the smog.

WHen I first had my dual exhaust set up, I eliminated the cats. TRuck sounded raspy and had bad fumes. Put the cats in, no loss of power and got a nice sound and no more fumes.

YMMV.

Does your 465 have a Z bracket for the clutch crossing between the engine and the frame?

Yep, forgot to mention its a mechanical clutch. If someone has a pic that would be great. Most headers (long tube anyway) look like the dump under the Z-bar and out of the way of the clutch fork. I've been known to be wrong on many occastions though.

The exhuast that it had when I bought it came out the back and when ever I had the rear window down it would run right into the truck, unless I had both front windows all the way open. it seams like side exits would be a little better, but I am willing to try anything once, twice if I like it.

Side exit right behind the rear tire. Still get some exhaust, but way better with just the rear window open.

On the 4th page is an image of the first replacement headers I went with and the Z bracket, which I had to bend and bend again to get the new ceramic coated headers on.

Here's the link and images of my header dilema which is still fresh in my mind. http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=216958

As for the rest of the exhaust, just exit somewhere behind the rear wheels or you'll fumigate yourself. :)

I'm a fan of shorties. Makes it easier to direct tubing around things. Just my opinion of course. But I have despised my headers since I first put them on. And the rubbing of pipe against my front driveshaft was annoying. I didn't rotate the system enough when replacing a gasket...

You also don't need to wrap them for starter protection. Speaking of starter protection, has anyone had this problem on a Chevy? I haven't had heat affect my starter, but my buddy kept burning up starters (Dodge) until he wrapped his headers.

Glad I could help, my experience was a huge pain, hopefully you wont have to go through that. Keep in mind the Z bar can be bent quite a lot - if your is mounted differently.
