I going to have to do an engine swap shortly on my '90 suburban and I want to go back in with long tube headers,I will also be building a custom exhaust to go with it.
My question is which ones fit the best with the least amount of headaches. I have read some conflicting reports that some hit the shackles on 4wds and/or have other fitment issues.
What is everyone running and how do you like them?

I run a SBC, and I got my headers from Summit Racing, ceramic coated long tubes, and they dropped right in. No problems with the clutch linkage, and the collector flange was kinda close to the passenger side lower shackle bolt, I just trimmed the excess bolt end off. I meant to get 1 5/8'' but ended up ordering 1 1/2".
Also they hang down kinda low.

I have had good luck with the Hedman 69230/69830 headers on both of my trucks. One is a TBI truck that I have had them on for about 10 years now (albeit on its third set because it's a wheeling rig and I go with the cheap, non coated ones on that) and the other is on my 78 with a small block. I sprung for the ceramic coating on those and it has held up very nicely so far.

No rubbing the shackles (these are more of a mid length) and I was able to run a nice tucked up exhaust on both of them.

Yes, I'd go for the recommended hedmans (at least that length/design) if you have the money for it. They fit. Which is odd, their full length ones made for these trucks, don't.

Don't have figures, but I doubt the power difference between the mids and long tubes is worth the trade-off of a bad fit.

Thanks for the input everyone. I do like the looks of those Hedman ones,I think that's what I will go with.
Little context on the engine,it is an older Gm crate engine. 290/300 hp with tpi heads. Runs really good with a carburetor on it,guess I will how it does with tbi on top.
Figured since I need a new exhaust system anyway I will start from scratch with headers.

I just installed hooker headers on mine and they were a breeze to install. also went ahead and got the dual exhaust kit from them as well, just waiting on the mufflers to arrive then ill have that all buttoned up.

The headman elite have really well made flanges and fit super nice.
