I think i need a new set of headers. I had a ticking coming from the passengers side exhaust, so i tightened the bolts. That didnt work; so i replaced the gaskets with some copper ones. It still ticks, so it must be leaking from the header itself(it seems to have gotten worse since i replaced the gasket). I currently have the cheap summit headers, what headers would anyone here recomend. I would like a pair that will last a little longer than the present ones (about a year). I guess you get what you pay for.
Thanks

ive always had good luck with black jacks but i dont know if dynomax is still making those. id stay away from flotechs the set i had were no where near to lining up and were always leaking. i thought maybe my set was defective but another friend had a similar problem

Have heard that Doug Thorley is the best from several sources. I got a pair and am very happy with them. Costly when compared with others, but, apparently worth it.

I have had good luck with hedmans as for as fit and clearance goes.

Over the years I've own a few different brands and I've never had a pair of hooker's leak/warp on me. I've got hooker pro comps on mine right now.

I havent experienced L&L Products headers but did read theirs are made with 1/2" thick flanges at the heads and 3/8" thick flanges at the collector. They are also nickel plated, too. Can't remember what guarantee they offer. Expect to spend in the $500 range, IIRC. I'd run these headers for the flange thickness which prevents warpage.

i have flotech afterburners on my truck....they were fine for about a year, but now they have started to crack and break at the collector for the tri-y...it leaks and sounds like ass....would not get them....as far as seal at the head...i had to use like 1/4 thick gaskets to get them to seal...but they have been fine after that gasket

Does anyone have an opinion on these? I really am not looking at spending a lot of money right now.

a friend of mine has those on his k5 h had problems with them his is an 89

i got the summit shorty ones the problems i had with them is that they don't bolt up to the factory y pipe which was the whole reason i went with shorties in the first place, if i had known i would have to modify the y pipe i would have just gone with full length ones

I have a set of Edelbrock TES Headers (headers and Y pipe) with hardly any miles on them for 200 shipped if your interested. They are the next best thing to Thorleys. E-mail me at [email protected]
