Anyone have a clue what type of heads these might be?
Pulled off a 350, alum., angled plugs, canted valves, center bolt valve covers, screw in rocker studs -3/8, looks like sodium filled exhaust valves, tulipped intake valve stems (is that what you call it when the stem is cut narrower just above the valve itself?), and almost no markings on the heads themselves. Other then the "A" inside a circle on the inside of the valve cover I can't find squat.
I assumed these are something cheap from summit, but??????????
They were on a 89-90 camaro I found at a wrecking yard. Should have had a 305 in it but someone built this 350 for it. I was only interested in the bored out TBI and edelbrock TBI intake, but figured for $35-$40 why the hell not. The heads might be trash, but for that price I could put them in a band saw and make bitchin book ends. The motor they came off had flat tops and a barely there copper head gasket. Everything looked almost new (like it blew up not too long after it was built). The head bolts were definately not torqued evenly... But anyways there were tiny pieces of metal imbedded into the heads. At first I thought they were pieces of a ring, but they aren't. Then I thought a spark plug came apart... but then I found the same thing in 3 different cyl, on both sides of the motor. Must have been something in the intake. Don't know if they can have the pitted areas decked off, but once again, for the price? The motor was wearing a lot of Edelbrock crap, and so was the tranny. But edelbrock heads are always marked aren't they?

Oh well, paid a total of 80-90 bucks that day and left with 2 alum. heads of questionable use, my edelbrock TBI intake, a crapload of ARP hardware, a throttle body bored by morse machine, and a pair of cheesy cast aluminum centerbolt valve covers (also no markings) that were clearanced for roller rockers (somebody snagged those before I got there). So bookends, or race heads, I'm not to twisted up over it.

Any help with the ID on these would be sweet.

I'm going to say TFS heads since the valves are "twisted".

In your last pic i see a number that looks like SN 16498-2? Is that the number? Also are there any other numbers on the heads anywhere? TFS is the only head i'm familiar with that used the "twisted valve" design.

Did the early trick flows not have their name etched on the accessory bolt area? That's what they look like to me too.

AFAIK the early ones did not have any etchings, from what i've found it seems those particular heads have been discontinued due to guides wearing out within 1K miles or so.

These have press in valve guides. Would they have come with valves riding directly on alum? Or the guides crappy? or the material around the guides too weak?

trick flow heads are the only ones i can come up with as having both the angled plugs, and the canted valves... but yeah don't see any chevy heads available now from them like these. only for fords.

All of the aftermarket aluminum heads i've seen use a changeable bronze valve guide. The valve guide itself is what wears out quickly on this particular design of head which from what i can find is why TFS stopped making those heads for the SBC.

The valves aren't canted on those the intake valves are "twisted" (rotated would be a better word but twisted was their terminology).

Scott nailed it with TFS twisted heads. POS but maybe you can CL or ebay them to someone else...by the way the twisted heads on a sbf run really well.
