Ok I pulled my truck onto the driveway and pulled off my fender trim, cleaned everything up and used some painter's tape to layout the lines that I want for cutting my fenders tonight...while I was out there I was playing around and went to put the tc in low and it just flopped down...I crawled under the truck and the linkage from the transfer case isn't hooked up to the plate that drops down thats connected to the tc shifter handle in the cab...I see a hole in the plate and then at the end of the rod coming from the tc it looks like a little block and a stud sticking out...does that slide into the hole in the plate then bolt down or is there a little coder (sp) pin that holds it in place?

I have to get ready and go to a wedding but when I get back I'm cutting the fenders and I just wanted to post up so I could see what to do when I get home in regards to the linkage...thanks!

Ok it was too dark to see but on the end of that shaft that sticks through the hole on the plate dropping down from the shifter there is a hole for a cotter pin?

Yep you can use a cotter pin. Originally they had a funny shaped little springy clip thing, but after years of corrosion and dirt, they're not so springy anymore. Probably just fell out. A cotter pin would be more reliable.
