I think I used the wrong kind of fitting on my steering box, the brake line type instead of the o ring type

What's gonna happen? Explosions and fire?

I'm kind of worred becasue I really tightened that thing down with no lock tight or anti sieze or super lube or awesome sauce or nothing

It won't thread on. Don't ask how I know.

If you're not sure what kind of fitting it is, look down inside. You'll see a place for the o ring if it is an o ring type box.

The o ring hoses use metric threads where the SAE flare uses SAE threads, so it's damn near impossible to use the wrong one.

No.

I was given two steering boxes. One was an SAE flare, the other a metric o ring.

I'd thought they were both O ring boxes, so i just grabbed one and bolted it up. Turned out to be an SAE box so I had to pull it off and use the other one instead.
