What is a k3500 a duallie or single wheel or both?Chevy or GMC?

Can be either. K3500 simply means a 4x4 1 ton.

k3500 is a 4wd chevy or gmc 1ton truck.. w/ any variation of dana 60 front either dually or single wheel.

K3500 should mean a IFS truck with the 9.25" AAMCo front diff.
K30 and K35 were the pre IFS trucks.

Chevy started using '3500' around '88, for the R/V trucks as well as the C/K.

I'd hafta go look, but GMC was using it earlier, maybe as early as the late 70's?

Sure about that? I swear I've seen K35 badges on GMC's.

...I think...

Well, I should read my own dang paperwork!

GMC used 1500-2500-3500 from '73 to '91.

Chevy used 10-20-30 from '73 through '86 for the C/K trucks.

For '87-91, it looks like the C/K's (IFS, NBS) got 1500-2500-3500

and the R/V (OBS) got 10-20-30

So KJ is dead on, with the addition that the NBS were tagged as 1500-2500-3500 for '87-91.

Damn. Now I gotta go fix my truck summary page...

And oh yeah, to the original question; duallies are all 1-ton, but there are also SRW 1-tons.

Nowadays IIRC the SRW's are called 2500HD and the DRW's 3500, but ::shrug:: I can't keep track.
