Among the spare parts that came with my new truck was a 12b with a lunchbox locker. What is this?

A "locker" that installs in an open carrier replacing the spider gears. Does not require the gear removal(in most cases). i.e. done in about 1 hour.

Aussie locker, PowerTrax, etc.

It's basically two big pieces with interlocking teeth that replace the side gears. Keeps the shafts locked together. If load gets too much the teeth will slip and you'll hear a ratcheting sound. Installs in about an hour or so, typically without removal of the carrier.

lockright, aussie, detroit ez locker
they are fairly cheap ie 350 max but decent for a front i would rec for rear Lincoln Locker or Detroit

So I have no use for this as I have two 14bff/Detroit. What would a 12b with the lunchbox locker be worth? Are they half decent?

They are fine units if made by Powertrax/Richmond . And I would gladly buy it if I did not already have one for each 12 bolt I own . I'd say it worth half what they sell for new if you post it up , because its used , and realistically wouldn't want to buy a used one for more than a bill without knowing the history .
