what is a perkins turbo diesel

Probably came out of a piece of machinery. We have a Perkins in our Cat trackhoe

Unusual to see a Perkins in a passenger vehicle ... our very own Imiceman44 had a K5 he put on in, IIRC...

Perkins is a big worldwide company, building engines and lots of more stuff, check out
http://www.perkins.com/

But normally these engines are used in heavy industry machines like tractors etc. IMO this seems to have been used as a heavy duty work truck...lots of power (torque), but no speed excess... ;)

Perkins diesel

I have a Perkins diesel engine in my White 2-88 tractor. I'm not a big fan of White tractors, but the engine has been trouble free, and still pulls strong with almost 9,000 hours on it.
My local diesel mechanics tell me that Perkins has a very good reputation for reliability and durability.

When a seller says something like "Dana 70 in front, Dana 60 in rear", he has zero credibility with me.

No title? Boy that would be fun to try and get plates for....

So you have a truck that has no title, has a bastard engine in it, (Where exactly are you going to get replacement parts for that swap?) and the seller doesn't know what he has for axles.

How many red flags do you need?

i saw this earlyer today and was just blown away... to bad its been sold

1976 chevy 2500 perkins turbo diesel truck for sale. no title, 4 speed, 4x4, dana 70 on front, dana 60 rear.

That is exactly the same engine I have, it was in my K5 now sits on a stand.
It outlived my K5 that tells you about reliability.
I will be puting it in a 1ton truck this time hopefully a CC.
It's a T6-354 perkins 6 inline Turbo diesel 354 CI
410lbs torque 170 hp stock.
Mine came out of a tractor, they also were offered in marine applications.
Mine is a 67 vintage. :D

OH and CAT now owns perkins.

I think Rocky Mountain Cummins In El-Paso is a perkins dealer IIRC and they did quite a few conversions to chevy trucks in the late 70's early 80's I have a Buddy in Las Cruces who has a 79 Dually crew cab with a perkins in it neat truck, great engine

They made 70 fronts, why does that ruin his credibility.I would assume he's sellin for parts so no plates should be needed.Perkins is a name brand diesel engine that is common to equipment and should'nt be a big deal to get parts for.I don't see any red flags myself.
