Just got my 85 K5 back on the road. Was looking for opinions on what is the best tire for mud use. I know the bogger is pretty well the best but the blazer is a semi daily driver and part time mudder so wanting something that handles decent on road while still great in mud. Was leaning towards m/t baja claw ttc radial. Any thoughts on this tire or other suggestions would be great. Thanks

How big do you want to get? If your on road a considerable amount and want a pretty agressive tire the radial TSL's would be a great choice as mentioned by Norcal, something less agressive I like the Duratracs for more street/less trail, but they do pretty dam good for a street tire off road as well.

KM2! KM2! :haha:

TSL radial is a good choice too....

The best tire..........hhhhuuuuummmmmmm. For something that is going to be a driver/weekend warrior I would go with Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar. I run them on my step side.

LT.

I really like my irocs. theyre pretty soft, but dig good up here and still conform decent. I run 36x13.5s and they balance true, are fairly quiet on the road, and dont pull side to side. Im very impressed with them.

What's wrong with the KM2s?

It doesnt fit this critera.

A TSL radial or Ltb Fit the bill for this perfectly. The KM2 is barely decent in the mud, have issues cleaning out. If he asked for a trail, rocks, mud tire then sure Km2. But since he immediatly started talking about best mud tire, and comparing boggers, the km2 isnt even close to being close.

^Roger. I guess I assumed not everybody is looking for a purpose built tire. I drive on the pavement and trails more than rocks and mud, but Colorado mud I don't think really counts as mud.

they stopped making the ltb swamper.....

Who told you that? why are they still listed on their site, as well as other tire sites?

Any word on when the 17/47-17 LTB's will be available again?

i had a set ordered for a month....i called them and they said they discontinued them....i went with the tsl bias tire.....that was my second choice.....i do like the mtr's also if i was going to use them on the street.......

Mud is your main terrain, its not even really a choice, swamper, whatever flavor you like. LTB, radial, SX etc, but just the basic swamper TSL.

It is the best mud tire this side of the bogger

I think he said "street" was his main terrain and "sometimes mud". Those softer TSLs and such have been known to wear out quick when used on the street all the time. Going with a KM2 or MTR or MTZ may be a compromise when he hits the mud but should fit the bill for every other scenario a daily driver will encounter.

With that said I really like my KM2s. 6 months of daily driver use and then recently only weekends and wheeling trips, they still look like new.

Planning on running 35s. Wont be on trails at all any offroad will just be mud. Like the ssr radial and the maja claw radial. Just not sure which is better. Know lot have good comments on the ssr but anybody have any thoughts on the baja claw? Thanks
